Collins Aerospace is looking for a Senior Reliability & Safety Engineer to join our team supporting Reliability, Maintainability and Safety activities for our landing systems products in Troy, OH. You will be responsible for guiding projects and solving difficult problems during the development and sustainment of our products using reliability engineering principles. Further responsibilities include system safety engineering activities to support regulatory tasks related to landing systems and aircraft certification and continued operational safety. In addition, you will also be responsible for maintaining customer satisfaction with our internal stakeholders and customers.

Primary Responsibilities
Provide Reliability/Maintainability/System Safety Analyses and design guidance for mechanical, hydraulic, and electrical components to support landing systems (landing gear, wheels and brakes, and brake control systems) on a variety of aircraft platforms
Analyses to include: Failure Modes and Effect (Criticality) Analysis (FMEA/FMECA) from the component and the functional levels, System Safety, System Hazards, Fault Tree Analysis, Maintainability Tasks, MSG-3 Maintenance Activities, and Reliability Predictions Analyses
Provide technical support to the design engineering, product support engineering and marketing organizations in both concurrent product development and mature product support environments
Participate in landing system design and development in all stages through preliminary design, critical design, product realization, design verification testing, certification, and delivery
Provide technical and project leadership for RM&S support on programs
Investigate and perform improvements on current standard processes to improve efficiency and quality of analytics
Manage and allocate safety requirements and ensure same accurately linked to design and testing
Lead and carry out systems safety engineering activities in accordance with safety engineering standards and practices
Support the completion of regulatory tasks related to landing system and aircraft Certification and Continued Operational Safety
Support safety of flight documents for Type Certification, Amended Type Certification, Aircraft and Component Maintenance Manuals
Manage FRACAS activities to support corrective action and design mitigation for underperforming fielded components
Communicate and present technical data to senior level leadership and customers
Able to travel up to 10% domestically and internationally when circumstances permit
Perform other duties as required
Qualifications/Experience Required
Requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) unless prohibited by local laws/regulations and typically a minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience or an Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years of experience
U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract
Reliability and safety experience
Qualifications/Experience Preferred
Experience working in the Aerospace Industry
American Society for Quality – Certified Reliability Engineer (ASQ-CRE) preferred
Experience with Continuous Improvement (CI) tools and processes: Lean, Six Sigma, ACE or CORE
Strong statistical background to analyze and interpret results
A degree in mechanical, electrical or aerospace engineering
Understanding of the design of aerospace structures and systems
Strong understanding of the commercial implications of engineering changes, field issues, and investigations
Experienced using MS Office – Excel, Project, Word, and PowerPoint
Experienced using Teamcenter, SAP, CATIA V5

The salary range for this role is 77,000 USD - 163,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels. RTX considers several factors when extending an offer, including but not limited to, the role, function and associated responsibilities, a candidate’s work experience, location, education/training, and key skills.
