Controls Engineer

We have an excellent opportunity for a Controls Engineer in our Troy, Ohio location.

In this position, the successful candidate will have the following job responsibilities for managing capital equipment projects from conception to completion:

  • Define project scope, budget and objectives (essential)

  • Develop equipment specifications for capital equipment projects

  • Develop detailed timing plans with functional milestones to support project objectives; execute plan within established timing. (essential)

  • Manage Project from startup to completion, for new capital equipment. (essential)

  • Project management and tracking for content/schedule/budget/plant safety (essential)

  • Writing of justifications and proposals (essential)

  • Develop specification of capital equipment and facility modification or expansions (essential)

  • Develop Specification for Shop floor data to drive capital equipment

  • Develop and maintain company standards for capital equipment components (essential)

  • Writing purchase contracts for capital equipment (essential)

  • Manage vendors and contractors (essential)

  • Provide project updates regularly to stakeholders. (essential)

  • Reviewing/providing feedback/approving facility and equipment drawings (essential)

  • Finalize all as built drawings and documentation (essential)

  • Research and analyze best practices in manufacturing concepts and trends for applicability; stay abreast of latest manufacturing technology and leverage technology

  • Research and develop plant improvements projects, safety, machine efficiency, modernization, reduce manpower, increase capacity etc

  • Interfacing with plant personnel (essential)

  • Start-up new equipment, including debug (essential)

  • Identification of assembly, material handling, and process opportunities for labor and cost reduction as well as quality improvement (essential)

  • Concept and develop solutions to assembly, material handling, and process problems and opportunities to improve (essential)

  • Specification of control systems architecture for capital equipment (essential)

  • Develop and lead building utility aspects of capital projects (essential)

  • Develop, and debug machine control systems (essential)

  • Develop and modify Visual Studio.Net applications (essential)

  • Work directly with new capital equipment vendors in the creation of systems and programming (essential)

  • Integration of separate pieces of equipment constituting a manufacturing process or line (essential)

  • Provide plant level support for equipment (essential)

    Job Requirements:

    Qualifications

    The successful candidate will meet the following requirements:

    • BSEE or Engineering degree with strong related job experience.

    • Minimum of 7 years experience including engineering, project management, and hands on plant/equipment level work in automation.

    The Controls Engineer is a senior level position. Experience in the following areas is required:

  • Managed capital projects from start to finish

  • Experience concepting, laying out, and capital equipment design for capital projects including BOM's, layout drawings, and detail drawings

  • Experience in project management and process equipment design for projects ranging in magnitude to multi-millions of dollars

  • Experience in organizing and leading matrix teams to complete successful projects on time and within budget constraints

  • Ability to troubleshoot problems with capital equipment and implement solutions

  • Experience with Facility Utilities.

  • Experience with Power distribution/Arc Flash Studies

  • Experience with Allen Bradley Control Systems design and programming

  • Experience with AutoCAD

  • Understand NFPA, OSHA, ANSI and NEC codes
