Financial Analyst, Grants (full-time, grant funded)
In order to be considered an applicant for this position you must meet the minimum qualifications as stated in this announcement. HVCC does not support Visas. Applicants must currently hold an unrestricted employment authorization to work in the United States and appointment will be contingent upon completion of a background check.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: Associate’s Degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited college/university with 4 years of related experience, or Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or a related field from an accredited college or university with 2 years of relevant experience. Prior experience with grants and contracts and/or higher education preferred.
The successful candidate must possess general knowledge of accounting and budgeting theory and practices; ability to make independent judgments and to act on decisions on a daily basis; ability to work with flexibility on several tasks simultaneously and to meet various concurrent deadlines; strong mathematical and Excel skills with attention to detail. The candidate also must display excellence in customer service, as a true team player, and work with minimal direct supervision.
Duties and/or Responsibilities: The Financial Analyst – Grants reports to the Director of Grants & Contracts Administration and/or their designee and performs the following duties:
Utilizes Ellucian Banner database to complete accounting, fiscal reporting, and billing activities for all restricted accounts, including federal and state contracts and grants;
Completes an analysis of restricted accounts within the General Ledger in accordance with documented procedures and schedules;
Sets up budgets in the General Ledger. Tracks restricted accounts and grant expenditures to ensure accounts do not exceed allocated budgets;
Supports review and approvals of restricted account and grant-related purchase orders and payroll authorizations;
Maintains restricted account and grants receivables, runs aging reports and follows up on outstanding payments;
Reviews budget information in grant proposals;
Assists project directors with fiscal related grant questions;
Responsible for calculating and recording grant-related fringe benefits;
Prepares restricted and grant schedules for the college’s annual financial audit; works with auditors to provide requested information;
Drafts quarterly and final federal financial reports in accordance with grant requirements; performs federal cash drawdown;
Assists with administrative and financial tasks in support of the Office of the Vice President of Administration/CFO;
Collaborates on new financial and/or operational tool evaluation and implementation;
Performs related duties as assigned.
This is a full-time benefitted position with salary range of $49,000 - $52,000 per year.
