Russell Sage College Administrative Assistant- Performing Arts in Troy, New York

This Administrative Assistant supports the performing arts faculty and staff within the Department of Visual & Performing Arts (VPA), and the Theatre Institute at Sage (TIS) in the daily operations of an active department housed on the Troy campus of Russell Sage College. Areas within VPA include Theatre and Musical Theatre. The position provides the following administrative support:

  • Creating correspondence

  • Maintaining department budgets

  • Purchasing of supplies

  • Processing check requests

  • Scheduling of space

  • Filing, mail, and answering the phone

  • Attend all VPA Department and TIS meetings

  • Attend monthly admin council meetings during the academic year for support and training on procedure and best practices

The position also supports the Theatre Institute at Sage, the college's educational theatre company. Occasional nights and weekends are required of the job to assist in the management of a five - six show season. Other duties include:

  • Assisting the Communications Department with the planning of posters, postcards, brochures, and press releases

  • Managing of mailing list databases

  • Depositing of box office and educational camps revenue

  • Overseeing student workers in box office management and ticket sales

This is a full-time, 10-month academic year position.

The estimated wage range is $18.00 to $18.60 per hour for 37.5 hours per week for 44 weeks.

Job Requirements:

The successful candidate will be proficient with MS Office products and have a minimum of 2 years' experience in an administrative capacity. Other skills include:

  • Excellent organizational skills

  • A positive attitude and ability to collaborate with others

  • Professionalism and self-motivation

Also, experience with Publisher, Photoshop, and web experience is a plus. A B.A. in either the Theatre Arts or Business/Management is preferred, though not essential.
