ITW Sales Manager, General Motors in Troy, Michigan

ITW Deltar Fasteners is a large division within the Automotive Segment and serves all the major OEMs and their tier suppliers with plastic fasteners. Locations include: Frankfort, IL; Chippewa Falls, WI and our Commercial Sales and Engineering in Troy, MI.

The General Motors (GM) Sales Manager role reports to the Director of Sales and will be responsible for developing and executing sales and marketing strategies specific for GM The sales manager will lead a team of account managers and coordinators focused on the practical application of sales techniques and the management of sales operations. The GM Sales Manager and his/her team will work cross functionally with the Tier team to support growth.  Goals will be based on net sales through the sale of profit-driven products. 

  • Develop and execute the long range and annual sales plans using protect, proliferate & innovate strategies 

  • Conduct comprehensive market research aligned with the strategic growth priorities 

  • Identify addressable market and develop business plan to clarify where to invest

  • Structurally align resources to optimize growth with focused customers and vehicle launches

  • Champion talent development through ITW’s Leadership Framework

  • Maintain a continuing analysis of key performance indicators (KPI’s)

  • Actively measure and hold self, team, and business accountable to the KPI’s 

  • Motivate and inspire a culture of high performance 

  • Leverage market knowledge to focus on growing products and introduce new ones applying an “outside - in” discipline

  • Nurture customer relationships that provide insight and a landscape where ITW has a competitive advantage through our “cradle to grave” relationships

  • Manage and solve conflicts with clients

  • Achieve sales targets through the team supporting the division’s penetration/growth in the market

  • Conduct reviews on accounts on regular basis to evaluate our customers and whether the products and prices satisfy their needs, as well as the organization’s objectives

  • Meet deadlines both internally and externally

  • Other tasks and duties as assigned.

  • Education/Experience:  Bachelor’s degree - B.A. /B.S. from four-year College or University in Business or Engineering or equivalent ITW experience; Master’s Degree a plus

  • Automotive experience required. Minimum of 5 years proven track record of sales growth

  • Ability to develop sales forecast to a business plan, including business strategies based on OEM

  • Proven ability to deal with changes in a business environment

  • Personal accountability to align with the ITW Employee Development & Leadership model

  • An inner drive to understand, communicate and exceed established agreed upon goals

  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills with ability and willingness to communicate, and work with other regions

  • Proven ability to generate respect and trust from staff and external customers

  • Commitment to use the ITW Toolbox and its principles

  • Proven ability to focus and prioritize task and objectives

  • Willing to travel; primarily domestic and occasionally world-wide
