About the Role

We are looking for an experienced and business-focused Principal Manager, Enterprise Architecture to join Magna IT. In this role, you will be responsible for designing, supporting, and implementing our Enterprise Architecture Mandate. As a visionary enterprise-level architect, you and your team will play a critical role in driving our company's IT strategy and aligning it with our business objectives:

Technology Landscape Visibility:

  • Identify key areas of our global technology landscape and ensure accurate, up to date pan-Magna data in our EA tool (LeanIX)

  • Use this data to facilitate discussions and decisions on technology retirement, standardization, and project planning.

  • Serve as the “go-to” team for questions about our global technology landscape, pros/cons, and future state possibilities.

Business Capability Model (BCM):

  • Maintain Magna’s BCM with subject matter experts through regular reviews and updates.

  • Reflect this model in LeanIX and use it as a context for analysis.

Enterprise Architecture Governance:

  • Advocate for appropriate standards and facilitate their creation, publishing, and maintenance.

  • Maintain agreed Architecture Principles, Sourcing Strategy, and Reference Architectures related to IT capabilities and technologies.

  • Maintain an EA Engagement Model guiding our activities.

  • Facilitate and chair the ARB as the key governance body.

Architecture Community:

  • Build and maintain an Architecture Community of those involved in EA work across Magna, working towards a unified vision of an optimal future state.

  • Leverage this community to support global initiatives.

Initiative Support:

  • Participate in and help facilitate structured processes for impactful platform decisions, considering current state, market positioning, and integration with the current IT ecosystem.

Your Responsibilities

  • Deliver on EA Mandate: Ensure the EA function meets its outlined mandate and adapt it to evolving business requirements.

  • Team Management: Build, develop, and manage Magna IT’s Enterprise Architecture team, ensuring the right skills and resources are focused on key priorities.

  • Portfolio Management: Oversee the portfolio and pipeline of EA engagements, ensuring expectations are met.

  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Work collaboratively with a broad range of IT and Business stakeholders, to ensure EA adds value and is integrated into Magna’s technology activities.

  • Visionary Leadership: Fully own the EA function, envision its future direction, and lead the team towards that vision.

Who we are looking for

  • Strong narrative abilities to understand the audience, subject matter and desired outcome and put this into a compelling, understandable and flowing narrative

  • Effective collaboration with diverse partners and stakeholders, to foster productive working relationships.

  • Effective organizational and project management skills

  • Understand business models & ability to apply them effectively.

  • High-level understanding of the key constituent pieces of a technology landscape and how they fit together.

  • Ability to see things holistically: how technology and context (financial; historical; political) fit together into a unified whole.

Your preferred qualifications

  • 7-10 years’ experience in an enterprise architecture capacity 

  • Previous Magna experience is an asset.
