Housing Navigator

Department: Short-Term Programs

Reports to: Short-Term Programs Manager

Employment Status Classification: Full Time Salary; Exempt

Job Description Summary:

The Housing Navigator will assist health care organizations and other community partners who support our older adult population in understanding housing first principles and share requirements for HUD and MSHDA funded programs by providing community outreach and training. Additionally, the Housing Navigator will assist and advocate on behalf of older adults to locate, secure, and retain affordable permanent housing. The Navigator plans and coordinates services, identifies appropriate housing options, and interacts with landlords and other organizations on behalf of participants. The Navigator uses a comprehensive knowledge of housing and other supportive services to facilitate linkages before, during, and/or after permanent housing has been established, and works with participants to enhance their skills in utilizing these various resources. These services may include providing general information about various housing programs, developing action plans, providing housing guidance and support, and serving as advocates on behalf of participant to assist them in securing housing. This is a grant funded position. The Housing Navigator will play an integral role facilitating collaboration between the established community partners, core planning team and health-based organizations.
