Job Title: EstimatorJob Description

Our General Contractor and Construction Management client is seeking a commercial construction estimator. Our client specializes in Commercial, Industrial, Institutional, Retail, and Multi-Family building construction. This is a full-time on-site role for an estimator in Metro Detroit. The Estimator will be responsible for gathering and analyzing project data, preparing cost estimates, collaborating with project teams, negotiating with suppliers, and ensuring accurate project pricing. Additionally, the Estimator will be involved in reviewing project scopes, conducting monthly site visits, and assisting in bid submissions. Project size will range depending on experience level, from $3-$15 million to $30-$50 million, and may include a mix of retail, grocery, commercial, residential, multi-family, and industrial projects. Occasional daily travel for pre-bid meetings and meetings is required, with travel occurring once or twice a month, and potentially out-of-state.

Responsibilities

• Gather and analyze project data to prepare cost estimates.

• Collaborate with project teams to ensure accurate project pricing.

• Negotiate with suppliers to secure the best prices.

• Review project scopes and conduct monthly site visits.

• Assist in bid submissions and write hard/fixed price bids.

• Attend pre-bid meetings and occasional out-of-state meetings.

Essential Skills

• 5+ years of commercial estimating experience.

• Experience estimating projects ranging from $3-$10 million.

• Proficient in Excel and estimating software.

• Experience writing scopes and preparing hard/fixed price bids.

• Team player with a good attitude and strong work ethic.

Additional Skills & Qualifications

• Bachelor's in Construction Management/Engineering or similar.

• Proficiency using Planswift software.

Work Environment

Fully on-site role based in a newly renovated building in Metro Detroit. Estimators will have their own office. The work schedule is Monday to Friday, 8 AM to 5 PM, with flexibility on start and end times, and typically leaving an hour early on Fridays. The company offers a collaborative team environment, career growth opportunities, and is family-owned with a history of over 100 years. The company has approximately 45-50 employees and provides season tickets to all Detroit sports.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $38.00 - $72.00
