Illinois Tool Works Customer Lead Applications Engineer in Troy, Michigan
Job Duties:
- Provide mechanical engineering support for the design and development of manufactured automotive airflow components
- Facilitate and participate in Internal and External Design Reviews
- Releases system and subsystem parts to meet timing requirements with quality
- Supports current product change management processes
- Develop, refine, and finalize Criteria and Typical Sections
- Support CAE with studies to improve designs
- Support the Global Vehicle Development Process and the math fidelity for each cycle
- Independently integrate component subsystem design into systems
- Perform appropriate evaluations and studies and participates in continuous improvement.
- Proactively communicates effectively with all stakeholders.
- Provide application expertise through technical sales visits at customers.
- Manage and coordinate project assignments with the Sales and Engineering Teams to meet specific customer requirements. Transfer projects to the Engineering teams through clear communication of customer technical requirements.
- Support customer launch activities, as necessary.
Provide initial evaluation of quality concerns at local customer facilities, transfer information and insights to the Quality Department for full coordinated response.
Required Minimum Position Qualifications: Bachelor's in Engineering (any), Product Design, or related ?eld of study, and 5 years of work experience in the job o?ered or any related Engineering occupation. Employer will also accept a Master's degree in Engineering (any), Product Design, or related ?eld, and 2 years of work experience in the job o?ered or any related Engineering occupation.

Position also requires demonstrated experience in the following:
- Root Cause analysis including: Six Sigma, ?shbone, and 8D
- Creation and understanding of D-FMEA's
- CAD Design experience
- NX, CATIA, Teamcenter, VisMockup, Speci?cations, and Data Management
- Application of design operations and processes (e.g. Standard modeling or Clearance Analysis)
- Manufacturing processes to support Vehicle Development
- MS O?ce Suite
- CAE and eGD&T
- Design Standards and Best Practices for Automotive OEMs
- Mechanism Design
- Swing Study Analysis
- Plasfic Part Design
