As an Assistant General Counsel, you will have the opportunity to work with other attorneys, executives, and employees at all levels. The team you will be working with is collaborative and team-oriented, and values how vital this role is to the success of the company. The position would be eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement; however, there is a strong preference for candidates within two to three hours' drive of the Troy/Detroit, MI area. There would be occasional travel required.

So, what will you be doing as an Assistant General Counsel?

  • Build and maintain strong relationships with our Automotive Leadership Team.
  • Providing thoughtful, relevant, and timely advice to the Automotive Leadership Team on a variety of legal topics, including but not limited to, contractual and transactional issues, risk management strategies, disputes, regulatory compliance, and intellectual property matters.
  • Provide strategic counseling on, drafting, interpreting, and updating policies, and procedures.
  • Drafting, reviewing, and negotiating contracts and agreements.
  • Monitoring new and emerging developments globally in applicable laws and regulations and identifying potential impacts that could affect the company and its business units.
  • Assisting the business with understanding and complying with new and/or changing laws and regulations as it relates to the Automotive industry.
  • Handling or managing a broad range of matters, such as warranty, pricing and labor disputes.
  • Develop and implement legal strategies to mitigate risks and resolve disputes efficiently.
  • Promoting legal, compliance, and risk management best practices throughout the business.
  • Designing and delivering legal training materials to the business.
  • Performing additional duties as assigned, which may extend beyond our Automotive business unit.
