Aptiv Algorithm Vehicle Development Engineer in Troy, Michigan

Coordinate closely with Feature Owners, Project Managers and Development engineers to design and conduct the tests that will evaluate interim software for performance issues and improvements. Support ADAS Software algorithm development team to validate functional requirements for advanced active safety features including, but not limited to, Adaptive Cruise Control (ACC), Blind spot information system (BLIS), Cross Traffic Alert (CTA), and Rear Cross Traffic with Braking (RCTB). Lead the test vehicle set up with cameras, radars, video data recorders and pre-production control modules to conduct tests on evaluation software; instrument test vehicles, update software and calibrations, and conduct verification of data in order to record full functionality. Work on the reprogramming the ADAS ECU, Medium and Short-range radars. Lead on-road ADAS Vehicle testing in the form of exploratory test trips and regular test routes in several locations, serving data collection and feature performance requirements; work on designing test routes, interfacing with the Vehicle Operators and Technicians, detecting trends in the data, and performing initial data analysis of test session logs using CANoe, CANalyzer, Data View Tool, and Diagnostic tools, in order to check feature effectiveness. Conduct closed-course vehicle testing on various test tracks and proving grounds; provide the instrumenting of test vehicles, performing test driving and test session data log analysis. Develop specification of instrumentation and equipment for test vehicles, including both low- and high-level sensor data. Design, create and implement automated data analysis scripts. Work with engineering teams to determine which parameters to calculate; write robust code for analysis purposes, and then present the results to the Algorithm Software engineering teams. Identify Root Cause for issues observed in feature functionality and its performance. Use issue tracking software to track and resolve issues and bugs in production software. Create test procedures, plans and test reports to support all vehicle testing activities. Facilitate daily stand-up meetings with Algorithm teams and test technicians in order to determine the day's testing requirements and strategy needed for completion. Identify and resolve program risks by considering the degree of criticality and interdependency between cross-functional teamwork assignments.
