Job Title: Accounts Payable Supervisor

Reports To: Accounts Payable Manager

FLSA Status: Exempt

Summary Responsible for activities and operations in the accounts payable function for the organization. Direct supervision of the Corporate accounts payable staff. Ensures timely and efficient processing of invoices and payments. Coordinates the standardization of work processes to create a more effective and efficient AP organization.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Develops, implements, and maintains systems, procedures, policies, and best practices for the accounts payable function to ensure adherence to Company guidelines.

  • Responsible for oversight of the global AP Team including decentralized plant AP staff.

  • Ensure timely vendor payments

  • Maintain accurate records and ensure control procedures are being performed and documented.

  • Liaison between AP Team, functional departments, and vendors.

  • Assist with internal and external dispute resolution and vendor reconciliations.

  • Prepares monthly reconciliation of subsidiary accounts to general ledger.

  • Develops and implements record keeping systems, forms, policies, and procedures related to processing payments, and other accounts payable activities.

  • Identifies and resolves problems and inconsistencies and suggests appropriate corrective procedures.

  • Communicates and coordinates accounting policies, practices, and procedures with department, company managers and executives, and vendors.

  • Responsible for preparing annual 1099 reporting.

Supervisory Responsibilities

Directly supervises employees in the Corporate Accounts Payable department. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include planning, assigning, directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints and resolving problems.

Requirements / Education / Experience

Bachelor's degree (B. A.) or equivalent from four-year college or technical school; or three (3) to five (5) years related experience; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Excellent analytical, technical, interpersonal and project management skills.

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to write routine reports and correspondence.

  • Strong skills and knowledge in Accounts Payable best practices.

  • Possess leadership skills, able to lead a team and work as a team member.

  • Excellent reasoning ability, inference and problem solving.

Mathematical Skills

Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, commissions, proportions, and percentages.

Computer Skills

To perform this job successfully, an individual should have working knowledge of Accounting ERP software, Advanced Microsoft Excel skills and Microsoft Word software. Microsoft NAV, Oracle, and Concur experience a plus.
