Hourly Lab Assistant for Nursing

25 hours/week

Job Summary:

The Hourly Nursing Lab Assistant supports the Simulation/Clinical Educator Coordinator and students by maintaining and organizing the healthcare laboratories, preparing materials for learning sessions, assisting with simulations, and ensuring the laboratory environment is clean, safe, and conducive to learning. This role requires a detail-oriented individual with strong organizational skills and computer skills.

Key Responsibilities:

-Skills and simulation laboratory preparation and maintenance

-Set up and organize laboratory equipment, supplies, and materials for scheduled learning sessions.

-Clean and sanitize laboratory equipment and workspaces before and after use.

-Ensure all laboratory equipment is in working order and report any malfunctions or needed repairs to the Simulation/Clinical Educator Coordinator.

-Maintain inventory of laboratory supplies and assist with ordering and stocking.

-Assistance During laboratory Learning Sessions

-Assist nursing staff during laboratory sessions by providing materials and equipment to students as needed.

-Assist with the setup and breakdown of simulation scenarios, including the preparation of mannequins and simulation equipment.

-Administrative Support

-Maintain accurate records of laboratory usage and inventory.

-Enter student data into various databases.

-Assist with the scheduling of laboratory sessions and the coordination of laboratory activities.

-Provide clerical support as needed, including filing, data entry, and maintaining laboratory documentation.

-Assess end users’ perceptions of laboratory conditions to promote continuous quality improvement.

Qualifications:

Education:

-High School Diploma

Experience :

-Previous experience in a laboratory setting or healthcare environment preferred.

-Basic understanding of healthcare practices and terminology is an asset.

Skills:

-Strong organizational and time management skills.

-Attention to detail and ability to follow instructions accurately.

-Good communication and interpersonal skills.

-Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

-Proficiency with computer applications (e.g., MS Office Suite, Google G suite, Learning Management Systems).

-Experience in healthcare preferred.

-Enhanced customer service knowledge.

Physical Requirements:

-Ability to lift and move up to 50 pounds.

-Ability to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.

-Manual dexterity to handle laboratory equipment and supplies.

Work Environment:

This position is based in a healthcare laboratory environment with exposure to standard simulation/skills laboratory equipment and materials.
