Job Description

We will consider students currently enrolled, or about to graduate to start as part time and convert to full time upon graduation!

This position is for those interested in INDUSTRIAL maintenance, not automotive or residential maintenance.

Ideal candidate will be a self starter with problem solving ability and the insight to plan ahead for long range activities and goals. The Leachate Treatment Plant is a direct discharge system and focus on removing contaminants such as ammonia, metals, and BOD. Processes within the plant include Sequential Batch Reactors, Diffused Air Floatation, Lamellas, Multi Media Filters and Reverse Osmosis units.

Ideal candidate will have 3+ years experience in maintaining supporting equipment for the above operations. This would include experience maintaining blowers, aligning and repairing centrifugal pumps, and familiarity with a CMMS.

Duties and Responsibilities

  • Performs daily inspections of equipment to monitor for vibrations, noises, or other possible problems

  • Ideal candidate will have the ability and knowledge to rectify the problems above, which may include centrifugal submersible pump/ motor replacement or alignment, PVC pipe installation/repair, Chemical metering pump rebuilding, maintain HVAC equipment, etc.

  • Coordinate projects, repairs, and maintenance activities with plant operations to minimize and efficiently use plant down time.

  • Uses work orders from a CMMS to complete tasks and works with Management to fine tune the CMMS to meet specific equipment, customer and site needs

  • Participate in the receiving, organization, storage, and inventory management of stocked parts and equipment. Spot checking inventory status periodically will be required

  • Apply and ensure the application of the safety, health & environmental rules for the operation of the plant

  • Follow site LO/TO all site specific safety requirements.

  • Coordinate and work with site contractors and vendors for services such as forklift repair, electrical work, and rigging beyond contract scope, etc...

  • Identify and resolve mechanical anomalies for the wastewater treatment plant

  • Responsible for housekeeping to maintain aesthetics of plant both indoors and outdoors.

Working conditions

  • Typical working conditions for this position are within a wastewater treatment plant with some portions of the plant being in satellite locations outdoors. The job holder could be exposed to extreme weather conditions (extreme heat and cold), chemicals, machinery, dirt and dust, electrical hazardous, grease and oil, loud noises, vibrations, and other hazardous conditions. This position requires the job holder to lift and/or carry up to 75 pounds, climb a vertical ladder up to 30 feet, stand for long period of time, walk on uneven surfaces, regular bending, climb onto and exit a forklift in a safe manner, use of extension ladders on a daily basis, and ability to climb into and maneuver body in tight spaces.

Qualifications

Education and Experience Requirements:

  • 3+ years of industrial maintenance experience preferred, but open to students attending vocational schools

  • Knowledge of mechanical, electrical, and piping systems preferred but not required
