Air Mobility Command Equipment Repairer in Travis AFB, California

Summary About the position: This position will be assigned to the Travis Outdoor Recreation Facility on Travis Air Force Base, CA. Physical Effort: Lift and carry equipment up to 50 pounds, and occasionally lift up to 75 pounds with assistance. May be required to work weekends. Eligible to use base facilities such as: Base Exchange (BX), Gym, Outdoor Rec, Library, Marina, Golf Course, Bowling Center, and the Arts & Crafts Center. Tuition Assistance after one year! Responsibilities Checks tire pressure, fixes and changes out tires on a variety of wheeled equipment, such as bicycles, lawn mowers, boat trailers and utility trailers. Cleans and oils bicycle chains, tightens brake cables, turns wheels, performs headset replacements and replaces pedals. Waxes and tunes skis. Files edges of skis. On lawn equipment, replaces gas line cables. check oil, refills and changes oil as needed. Checks blades for damage and wear and replaces or sharpens as needed. Performs inventories of equipment and supplies. Maintains supplies at pre-determined levels. Rotates stock. Periodically checks all equipment to ensure it is in working order. Replaces trailer light covers and greases wheel bearings on towable equipment. Ensures hitches are functioning properly, repairs as needed. Check propane systems on camping trailers for leaks and repairs as ·needed. Patches small leaks on boating equipment. Properly stores equipment during off-season. Qualifying Experience: Experience and/or training in the maintenance, repair and upkeep of recreational and gardening equipment. Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds. Must be able to communicate both orally and in writing. Must be able to follow oral and written instructions/procedures. Ability to continuously stand, bend, stoop, and reach for long periods of time. Education Some federal jobs allow you to substitute your education for the required experience in order to qualify. This position does not allow for education substitution. Additional Information Individual must fully meet qualification/eligibility/background requirements for this position.
