The Senior Director/Director, Accounting will be a proven leader that is responsible for the many operational aspects of our accounting/controllership functions. This includes developing talent, optimizing processes and effectively working cross-functionally across the broader organization in a rapidly changing and growing environment. This individual will lead and manage the Company’s accounting operations which will include the monthly close process, quarterly and annual financial reporting, management of external auditors, treasury, accounts payable, and expense reporting. The qualified candidate must have a proven track record successfully leading high performing teams and must be an expert in US GAAP.

The ideal candidate will work a hybrid schedule within our Towson, Maryland office. From time to time, traveling and working onsite at other office locations and/or work related travel may be necessary.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide overall leadership for the accounting team (Corporate accounting, SEC Reporting, Accounts Payable, Expense reporting) as well as outsourced business partners supporting the accounting processes

  • Manage the Company’s corporate accounting functions including oversight of the monthly and quarterly general ledger close, accounts payable, and expense reporting

  • Oversee the timely quarterly and annual reporting of internal and external financial statements, SEC filings, annual proxy statements and offering documents, as needed, including all analyses supporting the integrity and accuracy of financial statements and ancillary data

  • Collaborate with Technical Accounting in the review of technical accounting conclusions supporting the compliance of accounting policies and US GAAP

  • Assist with development and maintenance of internal control structure and ensure SOX requirements are met for accounting processes

  • Prepare presentations and compliance materials, as needed, for executives, the Board of Directors and other stakeholders

  • Work closely with operational finance teams to ensure cross-functional efficiencies and accuracy of accruals and estimates

  • Maintain integrity of the Company’s accounting systems

  • Proactively identify, implement, and drive process improvements including system enhancements and integrations, policy changes, as well as promoting process standardization and adoption of best practices

  • Coach, mentor and develop a high performing team through the development and guidance of goals and objectives for direct reports. Foster a mindset of continuous improvement across the team

  • Manage workload distribution, prioritize tasks, and ensure deadlines are met effectively

  • Complete other projects and duties as required

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree required in accounting, finance or business

  • CPA is required, advanced degree in Accounting, Finance preferred

  • Must have in-depth knowledge of US GAAP accounting rules and pronouncements

  • 12+ years related experience with combination of public and corporate accounting.

  • Biotech or pharmaceutical industry experience preferred

  • 8+ years’ leadership and managerial experience in complex organization

  • Oracle Fusion ERP training and experience preferred

  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral)

  • Ability to collaborate internally with other teams involved in the accounting and reporting process

  • Detail-oriented with outstanding organization and problem solving skills

  • Results driven team player who leads by example and takes full ownership of work

  • Demonstration of a high level of character and ethics acting in line with a clear and visible set of values & beliefs

Director, Accounting - Base Salary Range $170,000 - $200,000

Senior Director, Accounting - Base Salary Range $200,000 - $230,000
