Guthrie Paramedic - Emergency Med Health Serv - Per Diem in Towanda, Pennsylvania
Position Summary: The EMT‐P is an allied health professional who provides a wide range of patient care and transportation outside the hospital setting. Under emergency and non‐emergency conditions. The Paramedic will encounter all types of patients with complaints of chest pain to multiple patient accidents. The individual must be able to deal with all types of human responses from the patient, bystanders, and themselves. The Paramedic is responsible for functioning in the pre‐hospital setting as well as various capacities throughout the hospital. Patient care encompasses patients of all ages regardless of race, religion, or cultural background. Education, License & Cert: Paramedic Certification with PA DOH
High School Diploma or equivalent required. Will consider military experience in lieu of high school diploma or equivalent.
Experience: Maintains current certification as an EMT‐P by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania. Recommended to maintain current certification in ACLS, and PALS. Must have CPR and EVOC certification with EMSVO endorsement on Paramedic certification. Must have current valid driver’s license. Ability to read, write, understand oral communication and have verbal ability in giving presentations and teaching. Keeps neat and legible written records. Follows universal precautions. Utilizes proper body mechanics. Is able to make timely decisions. Is able to handle traumatic situations, such as the death of a patient, including children, and unpleasant sights. Essential Functions: 1. Performs basic and advanced life support in accordance to the Pennsylvania Department of Health statewide basic/advanced life support protocols and completes all protocol update education. 2. Must be skilled in all aspects of medical emergencies and trauma associated with BLS/ALS Emergency Medical Services. 3. Supervises students when they provide patient care, treatment, and services as part of training. 4. Performs/demonstrates safe operation of emergency vehicle, including emergency driving. 5. Provides direction and assistance to ambulance personnel on scenes and acts as triage officer during times of disaster. 6. Performs Quality Improvement duties as assigned. 7. Pursuant to direct or standing orders from a Medical Command Physician, the Paramedic will be able to: administer medications and perform all required procedures in accordance to the PA DOH for basic and advanced life support. 8. Keeps informed of fire, safety, and disaster programs and attends designated in‐service programs. Other Duties: 1. Performs other duties as assigned, reasonable related.
