Overview

THE ROLE:

The Director Engineering will lead multiple Software Engineering teams for the Acquisition and Onboarding value stream that focus on developing applications and collaborate proactively with functional analysts to translate business and integration requirements into configurable component designs and solutions. This position is responsible for leading a leadership team with ownership of numerous applications, microservices and coordinated systems. The position is responsible for aligning Member and Consumer application development with the product and business strategy developed by internal partners and members. This position will also own and standardize architectural and software design approaches, along with development and support of web and mobile apps.

HOW YOU WOULD CONTRIBUTE:

The role is part of the Digital Office Engineering, Acquisition & Onboarding value stream team which is responsible for developing the next generation of Herbalife applications using MACH, combining the latest technologies with compelling experiences. The team is a globally distributed, highly committed and goal focused group across a diverse set of backgrounds.

  • Provide strategic direction and leadership to the engineering team, encouraging a culture of teamwork, innovation, and accountability.

  • Advises, develops, and implements strategies to realize a consistently high-quality, and efficient methodology for Application Management

  • Drive end to end development for Acquisition & Onboarding Value Stream.

  • Works to build, review, and update standards and guidelines in support of constant process and procedural improvements

  • Evolves strategy for software architecture, functional and technical improvements

  • Recruit, onboard, mentor, and develop an impactful team of engineers.

  • Partners with other leaders across the company to understand & identify process improvement needs and translate these into actions and/or projects.

  • Functions as a servant leader to engage team members and promote their professional development

  • Creates an environment that enhances collaboration, ensuring positive and productive working relationships are developed and maintained across the service ecosystem.

  • Establishes strong relationships with team members

  • Champions standard processes on development and quality platforms and processes, including continuous delivery, site reliability and support

  • Evolves our software architecture to incorporate new business and technical requirements while maintaining and improving our existing our system

  • Implement and optimize agile development methodologies and processes to facilitate rapid, iterative delivery of high-quality software solutions.

Qualifications

SKILLS AND BACKGROUND REQUIRED TO BE SUCCESSFUL:

  • Experience building and managing teams which deliver reliable products in a fast paced, agile environment

  • Knowledge of JavaScript, React, Nodejs, GraphQL, REST APIs, Java, .Net, MongoDB, Azure, GCP

  • Knowledge of streaming technologies (Kafka) and API Gateways (Apigee)

  • Strong database fundamentals and experience with both relational & document databases.

  • Solid experience with web services, including REST

  • Demonstrated ability to identify and resolve performance bottlenecks

  • Understanding of infrastructure platforms to support highly-scalable microservices, including networking, cloud infrastructure, content delivery networks

  • Experience with change management tools and processes, including source code control, versioning, branching, defect tracking and release management. TFS, Jira

  • Knowledge and understanding of web server technology

  • Ability to identify system impact for changes in architecture and implementation

  • Ability to architect and support localized international or global application implementations

  • Ability to effectively manage strategic initiatives with varying priorities and system impact

  • Excellent oral and written communication skills and ability to communicate with both technical and non-technical stakeholders.

Experience:

  • Overall 10+ years of IT experience including a minimum of 7 or more years leading design and implementation of complex web applications and 5+ years leading large, global teams.

Education:

  • Bachelor's in Computer Science or equivalent
