The Manager/ Senior Manager Global Quality Analytical Services is responsible for owning the Hill’s Pet Nutrition Global Analytical Services team to provide technical expertise and deliver functional excellence in science-driven premium pet nutrition. This position is Corporate Quality role that provides technical guidance to Hill's global network of analytical laboratories at our manufacturing sites and serves as a partner to the scientific community at our research and development center - Pet Nutrition Center.

Roles and responsibilities include the following:

Manage Analytical Services

  • Apply strategies for the development and maintenance of analytical testing infrastructure for Hill’s manufacturing facilities. Activities include lab design, budget development, SOPs, training needs, new technologies and auditing third party laboratories while assuring processes, equipment and specifications are consistent and aligned with Hill’s Quality and EHS requirements.

  • Provide functional scientific expertise and support through method identification and development, claims support and technical insights.

  • Develop and implement analytical quality standards for Hill’s organization.

  • Manage internal/external analytical testing programs for the global Hill’s organization with primary focus on Quality and Regulatory activities to support all functions including Science & Technology, Quality, Regulatory, Supply Chain and others.

  • Work collaboratively across functions and with Hill’s manufacturing site teams to resolve challenges and drive continuous improvement actions.

  • Identify actionable insights to create and implement processes and quality systems for improved efficiencies, laboratory instrument and testing results reliability and data integrity while building and enhancing analytical capabilities to meet business needs.

Provide Cross-Functional Collaboration and Business Support

  • Lead cross functional engagement to drive effective and efficient Laboratory Investigations and CAPAs related to ingredient and finished product test results.

  • Responsible for training programs for Hill’s manufacturing plant laboratory personnel, to include wet chemistry as well as NIR.

  • Provide input for development of analytical strategies for Corporate Quality and manufacturing plant laboratories across the globe.

  • Drive Capital Expense Budget (CEB) management for laboratory related expenditures by conducting technical project reviews and business analyses.

Manage External Resources

  • Build and sustain key relationships with global external business partners

  • Work with Indirect Procurement to obtain contract analytical services, participate (Quality SME lead) in contract negotiations and develop business relationships with external service providers.

  • Run analytical testing contracts and serve as the primary point of contact with external laboratory service providers.

  • Achieve high quality, cost effective analytical testing services through strategic partnerships.

  • Support outsourced analytical testing projects.

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, Engineering or other scientific related field

  • At least 7 years of prior combined experience in a Laboratory, Manufacturing/Plant Operations, Supply Chain, R&D and/or Quality role

  • At least 3 years of experience leading and managing a team

  • At least 2 years of experience utilizing quality systems and statistical tools

Preferred qualifications:

  • Master's degree in Chemistry, Food Science, Biology, Engineering or other related field

  • At least 5 years of experience in Quality related field

  • Prior manufacturing supervisory experience

  • Familiar with tech transfer requirements

  • Ability to work effectively across a matrixed organization

  • Excellent analytical and problem solving skills

  • Ability to work in the business, plant and scientific environments

  • Clear and effective communication and interpersonal skills; capable of inspiring change

  • Solid understanding of technical process of manufacturing / project management

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $130,400 - $163,000 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
