Robert Half Union Payroll Specialist in Toledo, Ohio

Description

We are offering an exciting opportunity for a Union Payroll Administrator in the Construction/Contractor industry. Based in Toledo, Ohio, this role demands a highly organized and detail-oriented individual to maintain the payroll system and manage employee records.

Responsibilities:

• Ensure accurate and timely processing of weekly payroll, including the submission of direct deposits and distribution of check stubs

• Prepare stop payments, void checks, deposit reversals, and overpayment collections

• Maintain current knowledge of union contracts, terms, rates, and reporting requirements

• Set up new union fringes and update existing union fringes and pay rates in the payroll system

• Process union employee changes, such as rate increases, W-4 withholdings, direct deposits, garnishments, child support, and 401k deductions

• Maintain accurate employee records and review new hire information, process terminations, and changes in employee status

• Work closely with local union halls regarding pay scales and work dates and assist with local union audits

• Prepare monthly union fringe reports for payments to trust funds

• Compile and complete Certified Payroll Reports, document, and prepare monthly federal, state, and local EEO reports, and maintain Certificates of Compliance

• Prepare weekly and quarterly city withholding taxes and report for targeted jobs.

Requirements

• Possession of in-depth knowledge of full cycle union payroll processing

• Experience with payroll of 101-500 employees is essential

• Proficiency with payroll taxes and check processing

• Familiarity with union contracts and the ability to handle payroll garnishments

• Expertise in using Microsoft Office Suite including Excel, Word, Outlook, and PowerPoint

• Background in construction and pipefitting industries is beneficial

• Demonstrated ability to process payroll in-house, particularly for union employees

• Strong organizational and time management skills

• Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities

• High level of accuracy and attention to detail

• Ability to maintain confidentiality and exercise extreme discretion

• Problem-solving and decision-making skills

• Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and meet tight deadlines.
