Colliers Engineering & Design, Inc. Highway Senior Engineer in Toledo, Ohio

Overview Colliers Engineering & Design is seeking Senior Engineers to join our growing Highway Engineering team in Toledo, OH! Our design engineering professionals undertake projects ranging in all sizes and complexities, providing conceptual planning, alignment studies, and preparing contract documents for construction of improvements to local and county roadway networks, and state and interstate highways. We develop alternative improvement plans to balance project costs with other factors including environmental, utility and property impacts. Responsibilities Evaluate, and apply engineering techniques, with the guidance of senior staff, to develop designs, reports, presentation materials, and other elements necessary for project success. Assist project engineers in developing highway and traffic design plans that may include grading, signs, pavement markings, traffic signals, roadside safety devices, ITS, drainage, pavement, and utilities. Research design options and apply code provisions/standards. Work with project engineers and planners, often involving multiple disciplines, to create designs that meet or exceed client needs. Perform engineering calculations and create cost estimates. Establish and maintain positive relationships with co-workers, supervisors, clients, and colleagues. Meet schedule, budget, and quality goals set by project managers. Demonstrate a fluency in Bentley MicroStation OpenRoads (and/or AutoCAD Civil 3D as applicable) to create plans, CADD models, etc. Field work conducted in collaboration with project engineers. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in civil engineering is required. 2+ years' experience in the field of transportation such as highway/roadway design or traffic engineering is required (internship experience included). EIT strongly preferred. MicroStation, Geopak/InRoads and current OpenRoads experience; Civil 3D and DOT experience is a plus. Ability to learn and apply technical skills and knowledge. Demonstrate intermediate, general knowledge of engineering concepts, theories, principles and practices. Demonstrate effective investigative, analytical, and research skills. Demonstrate basic technical writing, editing, and proofreading skills. Effective time management and organizational skills, including the ability to multi-task. Thrive in a team setting, strong work ethic, attention to detail and exhibit an eagerness to learn. Ability to read, write, and understand English for purposes of comprehending written job-related communications and verbal instructions and interactions.
