The Toledo Fire and Rescue Department offers full testing services for the position of Fire Fighter through National Testing Network, Inc.  To fill out an application and schedule a test, go to www.nationaltestingnetwork.com, select Fire and sign up for the Toledo Fire and Rescue Department.   Applicants who are residents of the State of Ohio may be eligible to receive a voucher to cover the cost of the entry-level exam.  In addition, residents of the following counties in Michigan are eligible to receive a voucher to cover the cost of the entry-level exam: Hillsdale, Jackson, Lenawee, Monroe, Washtenaw, and Wayne. Vouchers are limited to the first 300 applicants who can prove their residency in the State of Ohio or  the listed Michigan counties.  Examples of proof of residency include: a current, valid Ohio driver's license or identification card or a voter registration card.  All requests for vouchers are subject to verification and approval by the Department of Human Resources.  The City of Toledo reserves the right to change these terms and conditions at any time without prior notice. Applicants who are residents of the State of Ohio or listed Michigan counties AND who have also PASSED the entry-level exam may be eligible to receive a voucher to cover the cost of one attempt for the Firefighter Mile (FFM). Vouchers are limited to the first 150 applicants who can prove their residency in the State of Ohio or the listed Michigan counties.  You must have passed the entry-level exam prior to requesting a voucher for the FFM. You will have until January 17, 2025, to complete the FFM. You have two attempts to complete and pass the FFM; however, only one (1) voucher is available per candidate. If you fail the FFM two times and take it a third time, the City of Toledo will not accept the third score. Your final score will be from your second attempt. If the City of Toledo has not received your score by January 17, 2025, you will not be allowed to continue in the hiring process. Please note you will only be eligible for one (1) voucher for the FFM. * Please be advised that the application and testing period is between August 22, 2024 and November 22, 2024. You must complete the online application, entry level (NTN) exam, between August 22, 2024 and November 22, 2024. You must complete the FFM by January 17, 2025. *IT IS HIGHLY RECOMMENDED THAT THE EMAIL ADDRESS THAT IS USED FOR YOUR CITY OF TOLEDO APPLICATION IS THE SAME EMAIL ADDRESS THAT IS USED WHEN SCHEDULING YOUR TEST THROUGH NTN. Upon completion of the entry level exam and FFM testing, all candidate scores are automatically forwarded to the City of Toledo.  Candidates who attain a passing score on the entry-level exam will be placed on the department's eligibility list.
