Farnsworth Group is seeking a Business Development Manager in either our Chicago, Tinley Park, or Lisle, IL office. In this role, you will be responsible for creating new business by building robust connections and networks, continued engagement, adding value, and a proactive business development routine.

Job Activities:

  • Work collaboratively with our technical and business development teams to strengthen existing client relationships and generate new business.

  • Meet, engage, collaborate, and participate in functions and events with new prospects and existing clients.

  • Coordinate team activities for timely responses, submittals, presentations and proposals.

  • Promote the company brand and reputation.

  • Proactively engage with internal teams to deepen understanding of the firm’s capabilities and competitive advantage.

  • Track contacts in an organized manner, utilizing the company’s client relationship software.

  • Identify and attend key industry and community activities that benefit the community while promoting the company’s image within the community.

  • Maintain and improve the company’s business development (BD) systems, policies, processes and approach.

  • Establish goals, objectives, strategies, and budget requirements for developing new business. Monitor performance and implement improvements where necessary.

  • Optimize client mix regarding market, quality, sales, growth, and margin.

  • Serve as a client contact when beneficial or necessary.

Specific Requirements include:

  • Bachelor’s degree required.

  • At least 3 years experience in business or project development in the A/E/C field preferred.

  • Experience working in the building/facility design fields highly preferred.

  • Ability to give presentations to clients.

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills required.

  • Excellent networking and collaboration skills required.

  • Encourages and supports a safety-oriented culture.

  • Travel as required—most often in the Chicago metro area.
