Minimum Qualifications MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:• Currently permanent in the title of Senior Physical Therapist.OR• Active and reachable on the appropriate Civil Service eligible list for Senior Physical Therapist.OR• Must be eligible for 70.1 transfer by way of current permanent status in a title deemed comparable by the NYS Department of Civil Service to the Senior Occupational Therapist AND meet the minimum qualifications.*Must possess a License to practice as a Physical Therapist and one year of post-licensure physical therapy experience.Promotion: one year of service as a Physical Therapist, and possession of a license and current registration to practice physical therapy in New York State.OROpen Competitive: Possession of a license and current registration to practice physical therapy in New York State; and one year of post-licensure experience as a physical therapist.

Duties Description POSITION DESCRIPTION:A Senior Physical Therapist is a professional position requiring specialized education, experience, and licensure. Under generalsupervision and as a part of an interdisciplinary treatment team, Sr. Physical Therapists are licensed health care practitioners whoassist in, provide, and/or supervise the delivery of physical therapy treatment programs and services to individuals* in accordance with Article 136 of the Education Law to assist individuals restore, maintain, and improve physical movement and function, and limit or prevent disabilities resulting from disease or injury. Such treatment programs are rendered on prescription or referral of a physician.The Senior PT would be assigned to the Article 16 Clinic and IPSIDD, and carry a caseload of treatment and evaluation cases,concentrating mainly on Orange and Rockland counties.PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:• As prescribed or referred by a physician, evaluates individual’s needs for therapy based on functional performance.• Develops treatment plans describing the treatment strategy, purpose, and anticipated outcomes.• Supervises and conducts physical therapy activities.• Works with individuals, family, caregivers, and community agencies to plan for continuity of careupon discharge or movement to a less restrictive community-based setting.• Evaluates and documents the progress of individuals.• Member of the interdisciplinary treatment teams.• Instructs other physical therapy staff and service providers in therapy techniques and objectives.

Additional Comments *Please note that the posted Hiring Salary includes the sum of the statutory hiring rate for PS&T Grade 18 ($65,001), along with any special salary treatments in effect for this positionin this location, such Downstate Adjustment ($3,400). The posted maximum salary (Job Rate of $82,656) includes the previously stated Downstate Adjustment. Additional Comments:NY HELPSThis title is part of the New York Hiring for Emergency Limited Placement Statewide Program (NY HELPS). HELPS Program titles may be filled via a non-competitive appointment. This means that you do not need to take an exam to qualify, but you do need to meet the minimum qualifications of the title.If you are hired under the HELPS Program, you will be first be appointed as a temporary employee. In June 2024, if you are performing successfully in the position, your appointment will be changed from temporary to permanent non-competitive. Once you are in permanent status, your official probationary period will begin, and you may take any promotion exam for which you are qualified. At a future date (within one year of permanent appointment), employees hired under NY HELPS are expected to have their permanent non-competitive employment status converted to permanent competitive status. You will not have to take an exam to gain permanent competitive status.• Local Bidding Agreements will be honored. • Preference will be given to OPWDD employees impacted by closures.
