Position Summary

Kodiak Gas Services is seeking a seasoned and strategic Corporate Controller who will be a key financial leader and a close partner to the Chief Accounting Officer, Chief Financial Officer and Operations Controller. S/He is responsible for oversight of the Company's accounting and financial reporting functions and internal control framework. S/he will be responsible for ensuring compliance with US GAAP and other accounting and reporting standards globally. S/he will engage key stakeholders and help shape consensus and conclusions collectively through dialogue, compromise and influence.

The ideal candidate for this position should have an in-depth understanding of the U.S. oil and gas value chain and in particular the midstream and service side of the industry.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities

  • Ensure compliance with SEC, US GAAP rules and regulations, serving as the primary interface with internal and external auditors, as well as keeping abreast of changes in accounting and auditing standards, developing implementation plans to adopt new standards and work with Kodiak Gas Services management to ensure successful implementation.

  • Ownership for SEC reporting related 8-K, 10-Q, 10-K, S-8, and other filings as required.

  • Manage the financial consolidation and reporting, both internally and externally, of monthly, quarterly and annual consolidated financial information of Kodiak Gas Services and its significant subsidiaries.

  • Responsible for the management’s internal control framework and working closely with the internal audit department to analyze internal control compliance gaps and make recommendations for improvement.

  • Assist the organization with its transition to 404B SOX Compliance.

  • Serve as a leader and critical contributor in the implementation of the Company’s ERP system.

  • Serve as a trusted advisor and accounting consultant to all of Kodiak Gas Services as well as the Audit Committee of the Board of Directors and prepare financial analyses and studies as required to support decision making of Kodiak Gas Services senior management. Works to achieve goals while overcoming obstacles and/or planning for contingencies.

  • Prepare financial analysis, plans, studies and presentations as required for Kodiak Gas Services management and Board of Directors.

  • Support any M&A activities and other ad-hoc projects as necessary and required by CFO or CAO

  • Proactively seek to improve and document processes and implement best-in-class solutions, raising quality and productivity in a calculated way.

  • Design a performance management process to monitor progress and deliver results that exceed expectations.

  • Assess the talent within the accounting organization, recruit key individuals to address any skill gaps, train, motivate and develop professionals on the team, and develop a retention plan for top talent.

Education, Experience, & Training

  • An undergraduate degree in accounting, finance or related discipline and an active US CPA license is required.

  • Experience in Big 4 accounting firm a plus. A Master of Accounting or MBA degree, desired.

  • Proven experience with SEC reporting related 8-K, 10-Q, 10-K, S-8, and other filing requirements.

  • Extensive executive leadership experience in the midstream or service side of the oil and gas industry, with a proven track record of success in the controllership function.

  • Public company leadership experience required

  • Understanding of multi-entity structures with intercompany and international complexities

  • Deep understanding of midstream operations, including compression, contract compression, and stations a plus.

  • Exceptional financial acumen and analytical skills, capable of evaluating complex investment opportunities and financial models.

  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence and negotiate effectively at the executive level.

  • Demonstrated ability to lead cross-functional teams and manage complex projects with multiple stakeholders.

  • Thorough knowledge of industry regulations, market trends, and competitive dynamics in the midstream oil and gas sector.

  • Extensive network within the midstream oil and gas industry, including relationships with key stakeholders, industry expert and financial institutions.

  • Experience gained from a complex organization in manufacturing or industrial sectors, working as the controller, assistant controller or divisional finance director.

  • At least 10 years of accounting experience in addition to a foundation in a global public accounting firm. Deep accounting and financial knowledge, including strong technical accounting skills with expertise in SEC reporting and experience in managing audits and consolidations. Ability to exercise judgment when applying accounting standards.

  • Proven track record of successfully building effective relationships with leaders across the enterprise. The ability to play the business partner/advisor role for the organization and accomplish goals through influence without direct authority.

  • Proven management experience with demonstrated ability to build and develop the team from a functional standpoint while also ensuring collaboration and communication. Excellent leadership skills, business acumen, and verbal and written communication skills.

  • Candidate has held a leadership position during a period of extensive M&A and/or transformation, both culturally and from a systems perspective. A history of success in ERP implementations desired.
