The Department of Educational Psychology, Leadership, and Counseling at Texas Tech University invites applications from innovative and thoughtful colleagues to join our faculty at the rank of Assistant Professor in Educational Leadership and Policy. This full-time, tenure-track position with a nine-month academic-year appointment will start on September 1, 2025.

Major/Essential Functions:

The ideal EDLD Policy candidate will have expertise and experience in education policy, educational leadership, and educational organizations, and apply rigorous research methods. Key expectations of this position are to (1) secure federal and state funding related to pressing issues in education policy; (2) have an active scholarly research agenda focused on key issues in education policy; (3) mentor doctoral students researching educational leadership and policy, and (4) engage community stakeholders in mutually-beneficial educational leadership and policy-focused collaborations.  

Candidates who have strong records of scholarship supported by extramural funding and who have the proven capacity or clear potential to bring externally sponsored research to Texas Tech University are encouraged to apply. The salary is competitive and commensurate with qualifications and experience. 

Responsibilities of the successful candidate:

  • Conduct research that contributes to the improvement of policy, practice, and the field.

  • Apply for and manage external funding to support leadership for educational policy research that results in the improvement of education policy and practice. 

  • Supervise graduate student research and practice (includes serving on doctoral dissertations).

  • Recruit, advise, and mentor master’s and doctoral students.

  • Teach distance-delivered graduate Educational Leadership courses in EDLD masters and doctoral-level cohort programs in areas of policy-relevant expertise.

  • Work collaboratively with EDLD faculty in the College of Education and on program-level grant-supported education policy projects.

  • Contribute to the advancement of the Education Policy specialization and EDLD program goals through service, outreach, and engagement.

  • Partner with schools and/or agencies to ensure meaningful collaborative research, teaching, and practice.

In addition to the required qualifications, individuals with the following preferred qualifications are strongly encouraged to apply:

  • Research Experience in Education Policy: Proven experience conducting research that informs education policy at the district, state, or national levels.

  • External Funding Success: Demonstrated track record of securing external funding for research projects, or record of submissions indicative of an active pursuit of external funding.

  • Collaborative Partnerships: Proven ability to build and maintain partnerships with or evidence of interactions with education policy agencies, organizations, nonprofits, or similar entities.

  • Online Teaching Experience: Experience teaching online or distance education courses, with a focus on effective digital pedagogy.

  • Doctoral Advising and Leadership: A solid track record of advising doctoral students and chairing dissertation committees, with a commitment to supporting graduate student success.

Faculty Qualifications:
