Rena\'s line is 978-805-4702 direct Responsibilities - Participation in the nursing process by sharing in assessment of patients, planning of patient care, implementing the patient care plan, and evaluating patient care. - Notifying appropriate person about unusual symptoms and/or changes in condition of patient. Performing nursing procedures for which the licensed practical/vocational nurse is prepared, including, but not limited to, giving baths; providing oral hygiene; assisting patients with grooming needs; shampooing; taking temperature, pulse, respirations, and blood pressure; assisting patients with eating; assisting patients with active and passive exercises; assisting with ambulation, transfer activities, and the rehabilitation of patients; administering of oxygen by catheter or mask; changing dressings; inserting and irrigating urinary catheters; providing post-mortem care. - Ordering medications according to facility procedure, doing narcotic count according to regulation, auditing physician\'s orders and medications as assigned - Planning assignments for nursing assistants with assistance of CNA 2, directing and supervising nursing assistants, assisting with evaluation process of nursing assistants. - The licensed practical nurse, with the education and proven clinical competence, may perform treatments and/or procedures, provided the institution\'s policies and the State\'s regulatory acts allow their performance. Only licensed practical nurses with documented skill in performing these functions may administer medications, suction and care for a tracheostomy, suction naso-pharyngeal, add/hang additional containers of intravenous fluids, discontinue peripheral intravenous fluids, perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation, take telephone orders and record according to facility policy. All treatments and procedures will be within the realm of the professional\'s experience and capabilities. - Once certified to do so according to the Department of Public Health regulations, may start intravenous fluids according to the facility\'s policies, but may not hang blood; may insert peripheral IVs and care for peripheral, Central Line, Pic/Picc, midlines, port-acath, Groshongs and Hickmans, including dressing changes, according to the IV Policy and Procedures Manual and the facility\'s policies. EDUCATION: Graduation from an accredited, approved school of nursing. Current registration with State Board of Nurse Examiners.
