TEKsystems Cable Technician (Entry-level) in Temple, Texas

TEKsystems is looking to hire 100+ entry-level commercail Cable Technicians to support a large data center in Temple, TX!

Someone who comes from a background or education where they have worked with their hands and are mechanically sound and worked outside typically work out much better than people with an office background .

Day-to-day duties:

  • Pull cable

  • Run and handle materials

  • Utilize hand/ power tools

  • Climb ladders

  • Layout and install wireway, buss duct, cable tray, switches receptacles and other devices

  • Pulls wire and/or oversees and directs conduit installations and wire pulling.

  • Operates tools/equipment, normally requiring the use of two hands (examples: cable cutters, hammer drills, compression tools, jack hammers, etc.)

  • Will build closets (Mount and install backboards, cross connects, racks, patch panels, fiber optic and hardware). Install grounding for racks, equipment and cable as required.

  • Complete all IDC connections (e.g. terminate 110/66 blocks and patch panels).

Requirements:

  • At least 1+ year of commercial cabling experience OR someone that wants to grow within the cabling industry

  • Reliable transportation to Temple Site

  • Able to lift 40lbs

  • Valid driver’s license

  • Interpret blueprints and other documents, including but not limited to, specifications, reporting and quality requirements

  • Understand and know the universal communications color codes

Additional Requirements:

  • Steel toe boots

  • Must Possess and be proficient with the listed tools

  • Screwdriver (regular and Philips)

  • Drywall saw

  • Torpedo level

  • Tape measure

  • Snips (with belt sheath)

  • Pliers (needle nose and channel locks)

  • Hammer

  • Cable stripper

  • Flashlight

  • Client will provide PPE: safety vest, safety glasses, and gloves (Must wear PPE gear on-site)
