Summary

Retrieves, analyzes and summarizes business, operations, customer and/or economic data in order to develop business intelligence, optimize effectiveness and/or predict business outcomes. Identifies, analyzes, and interprets trends or patterns and prepares ongoing reports and data visualizations (e.g., charts, dashboards, heat maps) in order to support business decisions. Typically uses dedicated business intelligence applications and/or cloud services, but may also leverage the reporting capabilities of existing ERP, CRM and/or database software vendors.

What You'll Do

  • Utilize production cost (PCM) and long-term capacity expansion (LTCE) modeling software to develop, maintain, and support robust energy models, ensuring they accurately reflect the power system, energy markets, and regulatory frameworks.

  • Collaborate with internal cross-functional stakeholders to use business, operational, and industry data to support recommendations on planning and project strategies, fostering a collaborative and inclusive work environment.

  • Provide actionable insights and recommendations for business choices using business intelligence tools. Analyze structured and unstructured data with statistical, analytical, and/or programming skills.

  • Utilize stochastic and deterministic analysis methods and scenario planning principles to predict outcomes and evaluate economic, operational, and statistical impacts of future business decisions.

  • Perform resource investigations and viability assessments to support resource lifecycle planning decisions.

  • Analyze historical and projected market data, including pricing and trends, to forecast commodity or market prices under various future conditions using techniques like market simulations.

  • Identify expected utilization and associated costs of SRP assets. Provide analysis support for policies, practices, and business decisions to optimize asset portfolio and utilization.

  • Perform planning studies of varying sizes that inform SRP’s long-term generation resource plan.

  • Analyze the future economic and operational impacts of policy proposals, including regulatory proposals. Develop responses to these proposals on an SRP-specific and state-wide basis.

  • Develop answers to complex, open-ended questions involving significant uncertainty and ambiguity with meaningful economic and operational implications.

  • Communicate analytical results and recommendations to all levels within SRP as well as external stakeholders, ensuring transparency and empathy in all interactions.

What It Takes To Succeed

  • Strong Analytical Skills: Ability to analyze complex data sets, including historical and projected market data, and derive actionable insights.

  • Technical Proficiency: Expertise in using PCM and LTCE modeling software (e.g., PLEXOS, Aurora, PROMOD, EnCompass) and business intelligence tools.

  • Collaborative Mindset: Proven ability to work effectively with cross-functional teams and stakeholders to support strategic planning and project initiatives, contributing to a trust-based and inclusive environment.

  • Problem-Solving Abilities: Skilled in utilizing stochastic and/or deterministic analysis methods to predict outcomes and evaluate impacts.

  • Communication Skills: Excellent ability to communicate complex analytical results and recommendations clearly to both internal and external stakeholders, with a focus on transparency and empathy.

  • Adaptability: Capacity to develop responses to policy proposals and answer complex, open-ended questions with significant uncertainty.

  • Attention to Detail: Meticulous in performing resource investigations, viability assessments, and planning studies. Demonstrates a strong commitment to accuracy and quality by consistently reviewing and refining your own work.

  • Strategic Thinking: Ability to support business decisions and optimize asset portfolios through thorough analysis and forecasting.

  • Education: BS/BA Degree in business, engineering, economics, finance, mathematics, physics or similar quantitative field.

Experience

• For an associate level, a minimum of no previous years of experience to two years related experience plus a bachelor's degree is required. (If no degree, four-six years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling four years.)

• For a journey level, a minimum of two years of experience to four years related experienced plus a bachelor's degree is required. (If no degree, six years-eight of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling six years.)

• For a senior level, a minimum of five years of related experience plus a bachelor's degree is required. (If no degree, nine years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and related experience totaling nine years.)

Education

A bachelor’s degree related to the assignment from an accredited institution is preferred.

Hybrid Workplace

SRP currently offers a hybrid workplace, which allows employees whose jobs can be performed remotely, and who have sufficient technical capability, to telework up to three days per week. Although teleworking is available, all employees must live and work in Arizona. We are taking steps to protect the health and well-being of all team members, and by following a number of health and safety protocols, to reduce the risk of the coronavirus (COVID-19).
