Position Description:

Principal Industrial Engineer for Medtronic, Inc., located in Tempe, AZ. Responsible for developing, advocating, enabling and deploying tools and methodologies to drive operational excellence. Leverage tools including Lean, Six Sigma, and project coordination. Application of Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC (Define, Measure, Analyze, Improve & Control), 8D problem solving by facilitating Kaizen events and training, providing coaching of cross-functional teams on these concepts meeting QMS (Quality Mgmt. Systems) standards. Implement Lean principles including E2E (end-to-end)/extended Value Stream Mapping, Lead Time reduction, inventory/WIP (Work In Progress) optimization, OEE (Overall Equipment Effectiveness) improvement to create multi-year strategic improvement roadmaps for various value streams. Conduct studies related to cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, quality optimization, and manufacturing systems. Coordinate production & manufacturing process improvement to support various key performance indicators (KPIs) including Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost, Innovation. Coordinate deployment of large-scale/complex cross-functional projects including software implementation, production line moves, and layout changes utilizing PMBOK (Project Mgmt. Body of Knowledge) concepts. Analyze and design sequence of operations/workflows to improve efficiencies in operations. Responsible for Bottleneck analysis, time studies, line balancing, cell infrastructure (layout), creating standardized work charts, process maps, Fishbone diagrams, Spaghetti charts that result in an optimized production system planning and labor efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional groups for modeling capacity in manufacturing, supply chain, logistics for equipment, headcount (labor), hardware, space, inventory, warehousing, and demand planning, to develop implantable medical device products. Perform statistical data analysis and create data visualization reports to develop capacity model insights. Perform DOE (Design of Experiment), regression analysis, statistical data mining and SPC (statistical process control) using Minitab. Develop and improve equipment layouts for new and existing lines and establish methods for maximum utilization of production facilities, by creating U-cells/flexible manufacturing layouts using AutoCAD. Up to 25% international travel to customer sites for corporate training, benchmarking, and meetings. Relocation assistance not provided. #LI-DNI.

Basic Qualifications:

Masters’ Degree in Industrial Engineering or related engineering field and four (4) years of experience as an industrial or manufacturing engineer or related occupation. Must possess four (4) years of experience with each of the following: Facilitating and providing training on Lean Six Sigma, DMAIC, 8D problem solving, and Kaizen event within QMS standards; E2E/extended Value Stream Mapping, Lead Time reduction, inventory/WIP optimization, and OEE improvement; Cost control, cost reduction, inventory control, quality optimization and process improvement to support Safety, Quality, Delivery, Cost and Innovation KPIs; Deployment of large-scale cross-functional projects, utilizing PMBOK principles; Analyzing and designing operations/workflows for efficiency improvement; bottleneck analysis, time studies, line balancing, cell infrastructure (layout), standardized work charts, process maps, Fishbone diagrams, and Spaghetti charts; Capacity modeling in manufacturing for equipment, headcount, space, and inventory; Statistical data analysis and data visualization; DOE, regression analysis, statistical data mining, SPC, and Minitab; and U-cells/flexible manufacturing layouts to maximize utilization of production facilities using AutoCAD.

The position is located at Medtronic, Inc., 2350 West Medtronic Way, Tempe, AZ 85281.

Salary: $126,000 to $166,800 per year
