Jacobs Commissioning Manager in Tempe, Arizona

The Commissioning Manager is responsible for the safe and efficient commissioning and operation of water and wastewater treatment facilities to achieve the plant’s performance objectives and Jacob’s contractual objectives. Reporting directly to the Project Manager and the Design-Build Group’s Commissioning Director, this position provides direction to the overall commissioning team and requires the ability to interact with a variety of staff at all levels. This is site-based position and will require travel. The role will require a self-motivated, detail oriented, quality driven, and team focused professional.

The Commissioning Manager will:

  • Develop detailed commissioning plans and checklists to detail plans and procedures to be followed in the field

  • Execute and supervise all commissioning activities in the field.

  • Coordinate between engineering, construction, operations, and subcontracted personnel related to commissioning scope.

  • Manage budget for undertaking commissioning activities.

  • Develop the commissioning schedule working closely with the project scheduler.

  • Manage and maintain open communications (regarding commissioning) and relationship with the client.

  • Work closely with operations staff to ensure smooth transition to operations of the facility.

  • Oversee and verify all commissioning documentation is completed per project document control policies.

  • Willing to travel and/or relocate to other project sites as business requires.

Qualified applicants with criminal histories will be considered for employment

  • 5 years of direct hands-on experience in delivering the commissioning phase of complex projects including serving as the onsite Commissioning Manager during project delivery.

  • Bachelor’s degree in an engineering or construction management discipline.

  • Experience with client interaction.

  • Experience with typical project management tools including schedules, risk registers, and change management logs.

  • Knowledge of OSHA safety requirements, including electrical safety.

  • Prior experience writing technical procedures.

  • Strong communication and leadership skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience working on water and wastewater projects for municipal client.

  • Experience with Design-Build and/or Design-Build-Operate project delivery.
