Summary

University Mechanical is currently seeking a Mechanical Construction Assistant Project Manager to assist the Project Manager with mechanical construction projects on time and within budget for various markets; Semiconductor, Healthcare, Higher Education Data Center, Manufacturing, and a wide range of other markets. The position requires that the individual have 3-5 years of construction work-related experience, preferably working for a Mechanical Contractor. Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

Include the following. Other duties will likely be assigned.

  • The Assistant Project Manager will assist the Project Manager with ensuring projects meet quality requirements and are progressing and completed on time, within budget, and with defined resources;

  • Collaborate with the Project Manager to ensure a complete scope of work is defined;

  • Develop competencies with reviewing drawings and specifications to assist with preparing project schedules, change orders, building and environmental controls;

  • Monitor project budgets and labor costs, alerting the Project Manager to any concerns;

  • Prepare, maintain and present computer-generated logs and reports;

  • Maintain regular communication and collaboration with Project Managers;

  • Prepare and manage communications internally with the construction team and support functions as well as with general contractors or construction managers for assigned projects;

  • Comply with all company operating policies, procedures, and safety programs as established.

Position Requirements

  • Must have 3-5 years Construction Project Engineering experience or similar experience, preferably working for a Mechanical Contractor;

  • Bachelor’s degree in Construction Management or Mechanical Engineering OR a minimum of 6 years combined experience in Field Installation and Project Management in the Mechanical Industry;

  • Must have demonstrated knowledge and work experience showing the ability to perform each essential duty satisfactorily;

  • Needs to be able to demonstrate experience in project scheduling, productivity analysis, project cost control accounting equipment and material procurement. Must have a working knowledge of HVAC & Process/Plumbing Systems;

  • Must understand Commercial & Industrial construction sequences and Testing procedures for HVAC systems and ASHRAE data & guidelines. LEED certification a plus;

  • Proficiency using Microsoft Office Programs (Excel, Word, Project, Access, & Powerpoint). Project Management & Accounting Software experience preferred;

  • Frequent travel to assigned construction project sites in the greater Tempe/Phoenix area
