Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Senior Scientist- Targeted Lipid Nanoparticle Delivery in Tarrytown, New York

We are seeking a Senior Scientist to join the Non-viral Delivery Technologies team, part of Regeneron Genetic Medicines (RGM), to support the efforts to target lipid nanoparticles (LNP) and other nanocarriers to extrahepatic tissues. You will spearhead projects to develop methods to systemically evaluate targeting ligands, such as antibodies, peptides, or small molecules, for their ability to direct nanocarriers to desired cells and tissues of interest. You will help define the “rules” for choosing antibodies that enable successful targeting of LNPs and other nanocarriers, including parameters such as receptor copy number, receptor biology, internalization kinetics and compartments, cell expression profiles, desired binding properties, and avidity/affinity driven uptake. These rules will be critically analyzed to determine how they relate to other targeted payloads, such as AAVs, siRNAs, or proteins. We hope you are excited to work closely with disease biology teams across multiple therapeutic areas to implement these technology advancements into Regeneron’s therapeutic pipeline.

As a Senior Scientist, a typical day might include:

  • Performing in vitro and primary cell culture assays to characterize properties of targeting, internalization, potency, including multicolor flow cytometry (10+ colors), intracellular fluorescence microscopy, and reporter assays

  • Conducting functional in vivo assays of delivery/efficacy, including multicolor flow cytometry, in vivo luminescence/fluorescence, and ISH-based techniques

  • Determining the specific and generalizable rules of targeted LNPs for ongoing and future preclinical program antibodies and ligands

  • Collaborating with chemistry teams to produce, test and screen formulation/conjugation changes in nanocarriers

  • Developing and implementing medium throughput assays to screen antibodies in vitro and in vivo

  • Interpreting and presenting results at group and departmental meetings

  • Keeping up-to-date with relevant scientific literature and conferences

This role might be for you if you:

  • Are excited and enjoy working hands-on at the bench

  • Are passionate about developing next-generation lipid nanoparticles and other future nanocarriers

  • Enjoy working in an innovative and highly collaborative environment

  • Are adaptable and able to shift priorities and project focuses frequently as scientific understanding evolves

  • Have strong organizational, time-management, and communication skills

In order to be considered for this role , you must have at least a Ph.D. and 0-2 years of relevant post-Ph.D. experience or a BS/MS and 8-10+ years of relevant experience. We need someone with a firm understanding of biological principles related to internalization, receptor trafficking, and ligand targeting. In vitro and in vivo experience in nanocarrier development is required. Experience with LNP fabrication is highly desired. Familiarity with alternative antibody formats is preferred. The ability to interface and work collaboratively between biologists and chemists is essential to succeed in this role.
