Regeneron Pharmaceuticals Associate Scientist, in vivo - Neuroscience in Tarrytown, New York

This Associate Scientist position will support preclinical research in Neuropsychiatric disorders. The selected individual will conduct laboratory experiments to establish and characterize preclinical rodent models, test the effect of therapeutic interventions, and help to advance programs to better understand and treat Neuropsychiatric disorders.

Primary duties include in vivo studies that involve handling live rodents for tasks such as behavioral testing, injections, surgeries and sample collection. Additionally, candidates will have the opportunity to characterize collected samples using biochemical, molecular, and immune-based assays at the bench as well as develop in vitro assays.

As an Associate Scientist in the Neuroscience team, a typical day might include the following:

  • Planning, initiating, and completing in vivo assays: injections, rodent surgeries (including stereotaxic surgeries), dissections and sample collections.

  • Conducting sample processing and analysis with molecular biology, biochemical and immuno-based assays: RT-qPCR, RNA sequencing, ELISAs, Western blot.

  • Performing and analyzing histology: Tissue processing, fixation, cryopreservation, tissue sectioning (vibratome, cryostat, microtome), handling of histological slides and basic histological staining methods, IF, IHC, RNAscope ISH methods, IHC/ISH multiplex assays. Confocal image acquisition and analysis.

  • Learning new methods and/or technologies relevant to various projects including, but not limited to, isolation, culture and maintenance of specific brain cell types, advanced data collection and data analysis (cell counting, quantifications in Halo, Image J, Prism).

  • Keeping up-to-date and well-organized records of experimental protocols and results.

  • Communicating and reporting experimental findings at group and departmental meetings.

  • Surveying current and relevant literature to expand scientific and technical knowledge.

To be considered for this role , you must have a minimum of a Bachelors degree with 0-3 years of relevant laboratory experience in biology, molecular biology, neuroscience, or a related biological science. Experience with animal models of brain disorders, histology, tissue preparation, behavioral assays and stereotaxic injections is highly desirable. Some understanding of neuropsychiatric disorders is preferable.

Salary Range (annually)

$68,000.00 - $106,400.00
