Old Dominion Freight Line Regional Manager - Safety in Tannersville, Pennsylvania

Manage the Old Dominion Truck Driver Training program (ODTDT) and perform safety Self-Critical Analysis’ at the service centers within the assigned region. Monitor safety procedures at the service centers to ensure measures are being followed.

Primary Responsibilities

  • Promote the OD Truck Driver Training program, recruit/screen candidates and schedule classes

  • Conduct the classroom portion of the ODTDT program and coordinate the behind the wheel portion

  • Recruit and interview candidates for examiner/trainer positions, providing both training and qualifying road test

  • Complete Safety Self-Critical Analysis’ for assigned service centers, assisting the service center manager and Safety department with OSHA compliance

  • Monitor hours of service, evaluating compliance at each assigned service center and report issues to the VP of Safety

  • Provide training and support to service center Managers and their teams, monitoring E-Logs, Fuel Efficiency Program (ROI) and EOBR functions and enhancements

  • Conduct post-accident interviews with drivers involved in accidents and assign required follow-up training

  • Review the daily injury report and conduct post injury interviews with employees

  • Assist in the start-up of new service centers ensuring all safety procedures are setup and implemented

  • Responsible for staff within department including hiring, pay decisions and disciplinary action

Job Qualifications

Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Occupational Safety & Health or related field and/or equivalent education and experience

Experience:

  • 5 years of transportation safety management experience

  • Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office and SAP

  • Knowledge of DOT and OSHA regulations and OD company policies

  • Knowledge of hazardous materials regulations and procedures

  • Knowledge of driver training and OD’s internal driving school

  • Strong interpersonal and time management skills

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
