Reporting to the Retirement Manager, the Sr. Retirement Analyst will provide analytical and decision support ensuring the retirement benefits programs for Tampa Electric Company, People Gas, TECO Partners and New Mexico Gas Company adhere to the requirements of the Emera governance model. The Sr. Retirement Analyst will support the development and execution of an overall improved retirement experience, working closely with the Total Rewards leadership team.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
Provides strategic support for recommendations involving analysis, design, coordination and implementation of qualified retirement plans for all active team members, retirees, and survivors.
Performs an analytical role and serves as a subject matter expert in the analysis, implementation, and administration of Retirement programs for TEC, PGS/TPI and NMG including the defined contribution plan, and defined benefits plan.
Collaborate with internal and external legal, consultants, auditors, finance, Human Resources and Total Rewards leadership on matters related to retirement and provide expertise in solving mid to complex business challenges while supporting the overall retirement strategy.
Responsible for operational and relational aspects of the retirement plans, including vendor management, reporting, plan recommendations, resolution of issues, and development of internal and external communications for the Company.
Create tools, templates, and communications that will effectively educate employees, Performance Coaches, and Officers on retirement Plans, includes working with the 401(K) recordkeeper on defined contribution specific communications that optimize the participant’s understanding.
Create processes that simplify retirement administration while balancing the need for solid governance. Act as a project manager as needed for retirement related projects that improve the retirement experience.
Perform validations and reconciliations to ensure plan compliance with all federal and state laws, and ensure the Company meets all governmental reporting and disclosure requirements.
Maintain confidential data records and run reports using SAP and access vendor portals to validate retirement and health information.
Responsible for retirement compliance related projects that require strong attention to detail, data analysis, and robust technical skills.
Other duties, as assigned by leadership.
QUALIFICATIONS
Education
Required: Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Human Resources, Mathematics or related area of study.
Related Experience
Required: Minimum of 5 years of experience in an HR analytical role with focus on retirement plan (defined contribution 401(k) or defined benefit (pension))
Knowledge/Skills/Abilities (KSA)
Required:Superior analytical skills, ability to present various analyses in a useful and understandable format, and the ability to simply and concisely convey complex ideas to others.
Problem-solving, time-management, critical thinking and decision-making skills are key for this role.
Excellent customer service, strong interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written) are imperative.
High respect for confidentiality and sound professional judgment.
Proficiency in MS Office Suite including advanced skills in Excel, Access, and Power Point.
Knowledge of payroll processes and SAP is a plus.
