Bright Horizons Part Time Cook Assistant in Tampa, Florida

Support the kitchen with the preparation of nutritionally balanced, attractive family-style meals for Bright Horizons children and staff. Work with the cook on menu planning , taking into account the center/school budget, the foods in season, local availability, and state and federal nutritional requirements for children . Work with the cook to keep an accurate inventory of supplies and order replacement of supplies as needed. Step in when the cook is out . Incorporate Bright Horizons’ mission, culture, goals, values (HEART Principles), philosophies, policies, and development of an inclusive environment. Child care has special demands in that we care for children who in many instances, cannot care for themselves. It is critical that the Cook Assistant be mentally and physically fit to perform the duties outlined in this job description.

As a Cook you will:

  • Prepare nutritionally balanced, attractive family-style meals for family and staff.

  • Plan menus taking into account state and federal nutritional requirements, the center budget, and seasonal availability of foods.

  • Keep an accurate inventory of supplies and place orders as needed.

  • Manage all aspects of prepping and preparing meals, as well as cleaning and complying with sanitation requirements.

Job Requirements:

Cooks must pass state and company background checks. Experience and educational requirements include:

  • At least 18 years of age and a high school diploma or GED.

  • Relevant experience working in a child care center, school, or commercial kitchen.

  • May be required to have food service/food handler permit or license according to state/local regulations- ServSafe .
