EMSL Analytical Inc. Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Tampa, Florida
EMSL is seeking a Laboratory Analyst (Asbestos) in Tampa, FL. No laboratory experience is required, just a desire to learn technical skills and become proficient in common laboratory practices and procedures. On-the-job training will be provided for all new employees. Experienced analysts are welcomed to apply.Responsibilities include but are not limited to:Preparation and analysis of bulk and solid materials for asbestos content using PLM (Polarized Light Microscopy) PCM (Phase Contrast Microscopy), and all ancillary quality control proceduresDetermination of visual percentage and optical properties of asbestos and non-asbestos materialRecord data in a specified mannerReceive environmental samples and log-in/data entry Chain of custodies into LIMS systemReview paperwork for incoming samples to ensure completeness and correctnessMake sure all samples are placed into proper storage for analysisGenerate analytical reports and enter data produced by analysts into the LIMS system for production of final reports to customerHandle inventory and record keepingAssist with customer service client questions via phone and email and in personClerical duties such as answering phones, filing, faxing, scanningGeneral laboratory housekeeping including sweeping, wiping down surfaces, cleaning incubators, waste disposal Cross train in microbiology prep and analysis Requirements:Minimum requirement High School Diploma or equivalentAssociates or Bachelor’s Degree in a Life Science: Geology, Microbiology, Biology, Environmental Science, and/or Chemistry a plusLight microscopy, optical mineralogy/petrographic microscope training a plusSome laboratory experience either in academic or commercial setting is a plusOne to two years of asbestos PLM/TEM/PCM experience is a plus, but not requiredCandidate must be able to distinguish colors in order to perform analysisAbility to work independently and with a teamAbility to work in a fast-paced setting, multi-task, and prioritize assignmentsGood communication, computer, typing, and organizational skillsAvailable Shift:Monday to Friday 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m..For consideration all candidates must apply through our careers website: https://phf.tbe.taleo.net/phf02/ats/careers/v2/viewRequisition?org=EMSL&cws=40&rid=4468EMSL offers full time benefits: medical, dental, 401(k), voluntary benefits, paid time off, holiday pay and a flexible spending accountTo find out more about EMSL Analytical, Inc. please visit our website at: www.emsl.com EOE including Veterans and Disabled
