Job Summary

The Citi Security and Investigative Services (CSIS) Strategic Analytics Lead Analyst will be responsible for conducting strategic business analysis and optimization of structured and unstructured data available within the CSIS program at Citi. The lead analyst will work with stakeholders across the globe and execute complex statistical / business analyses in support of CSIS functional areas. The analyst will prepare data visualizations, develop processes to discover and classify activity or behavioral patterns that help in business decision making, and present executive summary findings to business audiences. The focus area for this role is translating complex data into meaningful and digestible insights for a broad and diverse audience of clients and decision makers across the organization up to and including the Chief Security Officer.

Strong background in a quantitative or business discipline such as business administration, management information systems, computer science, statistics or related field is required for this role. Preferred skills include programming experience for data visualization (Cognos, Power BI, Tableau), data analysis, data processing, and statistical tools such as SQL, SAS, or Python.

Citi Security and Investigative Services (CSIS) is a full-service security and investigative team that protects the assets, integrity, and reputation of Citi and its clients. We accomplish this by offering in-house professional security services and independent investigations to clients across all of Citi's businesses and regions, and partnerships with other Citi business groups, law enforcement agencies, governments and industry counterparts.

CSIS Business Analytics team aims to empower and strengthen Citi and CSIS decision-making through actionable and timely data driven insights. We operate an analytical unit to report on various CSIS data sources to allow for reliable and timely decision-making, advise on metrics that highlight operational efficiency around key business processes, and provide consultation with CSIS functional units and business partners to visualize data for storytelling. Business Analytics is globally dispersed with analysts in the US, India, and Hungary that utilizes a follow the sun model to meet our clients’ needs.

A little about this role:

The CSIS Data Analytics Lead Analyst will report to the Business Analytics Lead Program Manager. The Lead Analyst will be responsible for conducting strategic business analysis and optimization of structured and unstructured data. The Lead Analyst will work with stakeholders across the firm and execute complex statistical/ business analyses in support of CSIS functional teams and stakeholders within Citi. The analyst will prepare data visualizations, develop algorithms to discover and classify activity or behavioral patterns that help in business decision making, and present executive summary findings to business audiences. The focus area for this role is translating complex data into meaningful and digestible insights for a broad and diverse audience of clients and decision-makers across the organization up to and including the Chief Security Officer.

Key Responsibilities/ Day to Day Activities

• Analyze structured and unstructured data to develop reports designed to inform and influence stakeholders and business-leaders

• Apply analytical tradecraft to data collection, organization, interpretation, summarization, and reporting to transform data into actionable information for decision-makers

• Engage with a variety of stakeholders to further analysis, identify data gaps, develop innovative solutions, and track industry trends

• Identify relevant technical solutions, when needed, to enhance analysis and client engagement

• Demonstrate ability to identify and anticipate the problems and product/solution needs of our clients

• Detect data anomalies and identify source of data problems. Recommend data quality solutions and outlier detection, and extreme value normalization techniques to overcome

• Use advanced visualization techniques to display data and the results of analysis in clear presentations and dashboards that can be understood by non-technical readers

• Display critical thinking in the creation of succinct narrative reports, presentations, visual mapping and link charts or similar diagrams to report analytical assessments. Display data and the results of analysis in clear straightforward business report that can be understood by non-technical readers. Provide written explanations of approach and analysis in plain language that supports the conclusions and observations

• Change Management Advocate - Innovate and generate new ideas, concepts, and models to improve methods of obtaining and evaluating quantitative and qualitative data. Identify relationships and trends in data across the firm, as well as any factors that could affect the research results. Question and validate assumptions and status quo. Escalate identified risks and sensitive areas in terms of methodology and processes

Q ualifications and Experience:

• Bachelor’s degree in business administration (MBA)/ computer science/ mathematics/ statistics/ quantitative methods (degree in economics/banking may be considered if strong analytical skills proved) or other related field. Master’s degree in related field preferred.

• 5+ years of experience in data analysis methods and their application in business practice

• Proven ability to analyze structured and unstructured data to produce business reports based on the needs of leadership and stakeholders

• Experience in providing the results of analyses in clear written form and presenting the findings to the audience

• Demonstrated ability to collect, organize, analyze, evaluate, and interpret complex data with a strong understanding and application of analytical techniques, including estimating, forecasting, and/or predictive modeling experience

• Advanced expertise in Microsoft Office products - Word, Excel, Access, Outlook, PowerPoint – demonstrated creativity in use of these products to solve analytical problems

• Experience in strategy and implementation of new technology and software tools for analytical improvements and information management

• Established project management skills. Ability to coordinate several projects simultaneously and execute daily duties with minimal supervision

• Excellent communication, negotiation and presentation skills. Ability to effectively communicate, both verbally and in writing, through all levels of the organization

• Demonstrated self-starter and resourceful individual with the ability and maturity to make decisions in the absence of detailed instructions and with experience of operating in fast paced and dynamic operational settings
