Job Summary and Qualifications

Maintains responsibility for the efficient operation of the department and optimum use of resources to maximize productivity and minimize costs.

The Department Director assumes the role of a leader in planning, directing and managing the department. He/She is responsible for meeting TJC Standards, complying with corporate policy and procedures, managing supplies and equipment of the unit, promoting teamwork with physicians and all health care providers, promoting internal and external customer satisfaction and for appropriate resource management.

Directs and manages the operations and activities of the Staff Development and Training Department. Responsible for the overall management of the department’s daily operations to achieve quality improvement, fiscal, productivity, and patient satisfaction goals and objectives established by upper management. Responsible for staff performance and the accomplishment of departmental responsibilities in accord with corporate, hospital, department and safety policies and procedures to meet both company and regulatory requirements. Responsible for providing high-quality service to, and acting as liaison with, patients and their representatives, physicians and employees. Responsible for the efficient operation of the department and optimum use of resources to maximize productivity and minimize costs. Provides training to nursing personnel as needed through identified quality assurance and improvement studies, management requests, staff requests, and new equipment recommendations.

Maintains responsibility for staff performance and the accomplishment of departmental responsibilities in accordance with corporate, hospital, department and safety policies and procedures to meet company and regulatory requirements.

What qualifications you will need:

  • Current Florida license as Registered Nurse or Recognized Compact Licensure (subject to Florida State Licensing Requirements, including/not limited to ongoing eligibility and duration provisions)

  • Associates Degree from an accredited School of Nursing

  • Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • Current Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS) certification or must be obtained within 30 days of employment start date

  • Minimum 3 to 5 years current clinical experience in an acute care hospital setting

  • Minimum 2 years Nursing leadership experience as a full time Nursing Supervisor, Nursing Management, or Director

Founded in 1974, HCA Florida Woodmont Hospital is a 317-bed acute care hospital. We offer a wide range of surgical and medical services. We have distinguished ourselves as a pioneer in breakthroughs in orthopedic care as well as joint replacement. We continue to build on this tradition in our Orthopedic and Spine Institute. Our Center for Behavioral Health offers inpatient child, adolescent, adult, and geriatric services.
