Voyig LLC Electrical Controls Technician in Tallmadge, Ohio

Overview

The Electrical Controls Technician plays a crucial role in maintaining the equipment and facilities essential for producing high-quality products. This position involves working on short and long-term productivity improvement projects, analyzing equipment, conducting root cause analysis, and assisting in the development and execution of preventive and predictive maintenance programs. The technician will also troubleshoot and repair automation machines and sensing technologies, including PLCs, Motion Controls, Drives, Panel View, Ignition, Wonderware, and advanced sensing and scanning solutions. Additionally, the role focuses on enhancing operational reliability through Preventative Maintenance (PM), Total Productive Maintenance (TPM), and Predictive Maintenance (PdM).

Responsibilities

  • Safety and Environment:

  • Uphold safety standards and adhere to safety responsibilities.

  • Ensure a safe and clean work environment, fostering a culture where safety is the top priority.

  • Enhance the plant’s safety culture by improving equipment reliability and mitigating upset conditions.

  • Collaborate with plant operations to design and implement safety improvement projects.

  • Participate in established safety and housekeeping programs within the plant.

  • Principal Duties:

  • Address and rectify deficiencies in accordance with NEC and NFPA 70E codes and requirements.

  • Identify opportunities for improvement and maintain PLC platforms, PanelView, Wonderware, various motion control systems, and AC/DC and VFD drives.

  • Implement programming changes to existing PLC programs and develop new PLC programming for small improvement projects.

  • Read and interpret ladder and relay logic diagrams, electrical, and mechanical prints to assist in troubleshooting.

  • Manage small to medium-sized engineering projects, including quality systems, laser scanning technologies, and vision systems.

  • Troubleshoot, repair, and calibrate extruding, finishing, and packaging machinery, as well as electrical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems.

  • Participate in preventive and predictive maintenance programs for plant electrical and instrument equipment or control systems.

  • Complete daily work records and activity reports within SAP.

  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

    Job Requirements

    Education and Experience:

  • Minimum of 2 years of experience in electrical maintenance.

  • Associate’s degree or certification in Electrical Technology or a related field is preferred.

  • Eligibility to work in the US on an unlimited basis.

    Skills and Abilities:

  • Strong knowledge of NEC and NFPA 70E codes is required.

  • Advanced understanding of mechanical maintenance repairs and troubleshooting.

  • Expertise in Allen Bradley PLC platforms, PanelView, Wonderware, various motion control systems, AC/DC, and VFD drives.

  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and schematics.

  • Proficient in using electrical troubleshooting meters.

  • Experience troubleshooting hydraulic and pneumatic systems.

  • Experience in creating and executing job plans with a focus on electrical safety practices.

  • Ability to design conduit, wiring, and electrical equipment.

  • Knowledgeable in the installation and commissioning of electrical power distribution devices, including blade switches, circuit breakers, and relays.

  • Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and ability to learn additional systems.

  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.

  • Ability to work collaboratively in teams and contribute to team building.

    This role is essential for maintaining the reliability and efficiency of our production systems, ensuring a safe and productive work environment, and contributing to the continuous improvement of our plant operations.
