MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS :

A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university and four (4) years of professional experience in systems analysis, management analysis, program planning, program research, program evaluation, engineering or administrative work.

A master’s degree from an accredited college or university can substitute for one year of the required experience.

Professional or nonprofessional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the required college education.

Possession of a valid Class E Driver License.

OFFICE DESCRIPTION:

The Office of Energy (OOE) is a dynamic and fast-paced environment where staff work together as a team to develop public policies and programs that that will move Florida toward a more diverse, stable, reliable, and resilient energy portfolio. Using available state and federal funds, the OOE develops and manage energy efficiency, renewable energy, energy education, alternative fuel technology, and climate change programs throughout the state.

The Policy Team works closely together as all of Florida’s energy sectors are interdependent, with the potential to impact our water, air, and our quality of life. Each Policy Team member is responsible for a specific area. Policy areas we are looking to fill are:

  • Energy Education, Vocational Training, and Workforce Development

  • Renewable Energy

  • Florida Building Codes and Energy Efficiency

    JOB DUTIES:

    Performs duties related to energy policy and legislative analysis for the Office of Energy including, but not limited to, planning, development, implementation, and evaluation of programs designed to promote renewable energy, energy conservation, and energy efficiency. Coordinates with the Office of Energy Director and Deputy Director to implement key initiatives and priorities regarding energy policy and development of energy legislation. Provides sound analysis of policy, economic and environmental indicators, and legislation (both current and pending) to enhance the design and development of energy policy to promote the FDACS Commissioner’s agenda relating to current, emerging, and future critical energy issues.

    Provides Office of Energy representation at meetings and policy discussions related to public and private entities as it relates to the water and energy nexus, and energy use in agriculture. Tracks all legislation related to energy, alternative fuel vehicles, and other legislation that affects the FDACS Office of Energy during the Florida Legislative Session. Provides bill analyses, when requested. Also tracks federal policies and programs related to assigned energy issues; prepares analyses/comments, when requested.

    Promotes energy efficiency and conservation by developing and disseminating informational materials to inform and educate consumers regarding energy efficiency and conservation. Identifies opportunities and coordinates resources including, but not limited to, individuals, agencies, organizations, local governments, universities, and utilities. Identifies entities involved in research, technology transfer, and demonstration projects. Also identifies resources for program implementation.

    Participates in national, regional, and local energy calls and meetings as they relate to assigned energy issues.

    Prepares correspondence as it relates to assigned energy issues. Contributes, edits, and updates the FDACS Office of Energy Annual Report.

    Maintains the FDACS Office of Energy’s COOP plan and staffs the State Emergency Function 19 as needed.

    Performs other related duties as assigned by the Office of Energy Director and/or Deputy Director in the form of special projects.
