Academic Teacher: Curriculum Specialist –70047492

This advertisement is for a Career Service position located at Central Office in the Education Department.

Salary Rate: $51,500.02 annually

  • Applicants in possession of a master’s degree may be eligible for an additional $1,499.94 annually.

  • Possession of a temporary or professional teaching certificate may be eligible for a one-time $1,000 hiring bonus.

    SALARY WILL BE APPLIED IN ACCORDANCE WITH PAY POLICY. THE SELECTED CANDIDATE WILL BE APPOINTED AT THE ABOVE LISTED APPOINTMENT RATE.

    SPECIFIC DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • Plans, develops, and conducts classes in the assigned subject as a substitute at multiple correctional institutions. Utilizes various teaching techniques and activities to assist students with their educational advancement. Responsible for the supervision of inmates assigned to the class.

  • Participates in staff meetings, seminars, and workshops to identify needed curriculum changes.

  • Works with other departments within the agency as well as outside resources to identify materials appropriate for the department’s standardized curriculum.

  • Assess implementation of curriculum within the department, including providing feedback to field staff.

  • Facilitates updates to the department’s standardized curriculum.

  • Assists in budget preparation and processing purchase requests for the state’s academic education programs.

    REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A bachelor’s degree or higher from an accredited college/university; and

  • Possessorbe eligible to apply for a State of Florida Educator's Certificate.

  • SPECIAL NOTE: Non-certified applicants must obtain a State of Florida Educator’s Certificate within 12 months of hire. State of Florida Educator’s Professional Certificate must be obtained prior to the expiration of Temporary Certificate.

  • Valid driver’s license.
