SPECIAL NOTES:

Four (4) years of experience in Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related field isrequired.

  • A bachelor’s degree in computer science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related fieldORan associate degree Computer Science, Software Engineering, Information Technology, or related fieldandtwo (2) years of therequired years of experience may be used as an alternative for the required four (4) years ofexperience.

    Additional requirements:

  • Eight (8) years or more of experience in a leadership role focused on the analysis, design, development, implementation, operation, and management of database platforms such as Microsoft SQL database platforms.

  • Five (5) years or more of experience supervising Database staff on technical matters.

  • Advanced proficiency in Structured Query Language (SQL).

  • In-depth knowledge of database technologies, architecture, and data security.

  • Knowledge of best practices in database management.

  • Advanced analytical, leadership, and problem-solving skills.

  • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills.

  • Must be proficient in the English Language.

    This position may be required to occasionally perform duties other than those listed on the position description.

    The salary range for this position is $110,000.00 to $125,000.00 annually.

    Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

    This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS FOR THIS POSITION INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Ability to successfully manage the day-to-day activities and responsibilities associated with the Bureau Database Administration.

  • Ability to provide guidance and direction to subordinates, including setting performance standards and monitoring subordinates.

  • Ability to coordinate members of a workgroup to accomplish tasks and to conduct complex projects by setting goals and establishing performance measures for his team.

  • Skill in communicating with IT professionals inside and outside the organization, representing the organization to customers, and other external sources.

  • Skill in weighing the relative costs and benefits of a proposed and potential action plans.

  • Knowledge of principles and processes involved in business and organizational planning, coordination, and execution.

  • Knowledge of principles and practices involved in personnel/human resource functions.

  • Expert Knowledge of the principles and practices associated with DataBase design and performance tuning.

  • Proficient Knowledge of Structure Query Language and working knowledge of one or more Data Base system (Oracle, DB2, MS-SQL…)

  • Knowledge and ability to establish and maintain Data Base security and integrity.

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

  • Enhancing the scalability and performance of existing database architecture.

  • Developing database structures and features according to organizational needs.

  • Hiring, supervising, and mentoring database development teams.

  • Protecting data by developing data security and restoration policies, procedures, and controls.

  • Conducting diagnostic tests and evaluating performance metrics.

  • Developing procedures to ensure data integrity and quality.

  • Preparing and presenting system performance reports to senior managers.

  • Performing database maintenance, migration, and upgrading hardware and software.

  • Documenting processes and complying with best practices in database management.

  • Keeping up to date with developments and trends in database management.
