SPECIAL NOTES:

High School Diploma or the equivalent isrequired.

Additionalrequirements:

  • Two (2) or more years of professional or non-professional accounting experience.

  • Two (2) or more years of experience of accounting reconciliation.

  • Two (2) or more years of experience in customer service.

    Preference s:

  • A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university with a major in accounting, finance, or business administration

  • Two (2) or more years of experience preparing financial statements or reports.

  • Proficient in Microsoft applications and Excel.

    Interview will consist of: Oral interview questions and work samples. Work samples will be answered using Microsoft 2007 Word and Excel.

    The anticipated hiring salary for this position is $42,000.00.

    Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

    Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

    Knowledge of accounting principles, practices, and procedures. Knowledge of methods of data collection. Ability to prepare financial statements and reports. Ability to prepare and maintain a variety of accounting records. Ability to analyze and interpret accounting data. Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies, and procedures relating to an accounting program. Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments. Ability to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing. Ability to independently analyze and use problem-solving techniques. Ability to work independently. Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships in a team structure. Knowledge of and ability to implement automated accounting systems. Knowledge of and ability to use Word and Excel applications.

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

    This position is responsible for:

  • Review and make decisions on daily positive pay exception items from Treasury’s disbursement bank.

  • Perform bank reconciliations in Florida PALM, as a member of the Bank Reconciliations Team, for disbursement bank accounts, custodial bank accounts, and the Federal Unemployment Compensation account. Input external bank transactions in Florida PALM while maintaining a separation of duties.

  • Daily processing of the Treasury Special Purpose Investment Account (Fund Accounting) application.

  • Answer inquiries related to the State of Florida disbursement warrants.

  • Prepare S&P Global ratings haircuts for certain securities missing ratings.

  • Perform monthly reconciliations and reviews. Complete the monthly SPIA Reconciliation Report and submit for review. Review, initial and date the monthly Cash Summary report.

  • Perform other tasks as directed within the Operations Section.
