Your Specific Responsibilities:

The Deputy Director for Reemployment Assistance Services shall administer state merit systems program staff within the Reemployment Assistance system, pursuant to policies of the Florida Statutes.

The incumbent of this position shall be responsible for delivering services through the Reemployment Assistance System and for ensuring that participants receive needed support services.

Work closely with Deputy Secretary and Assistant Deputy Secretary of Workforce Services and Department management to prepare and coordinate legislative initiatives related to Reemployment Assistance Programs. Ensure that approved legislation affecting the Reemployment Assistance Program is implemented as prescribed and within designated time frames.

Establish necessary policies that are supportive of the Division’s Strategic Plan that fulfill the statutory obligations of the Department.

Establish benchmarks for inter and intra-division processes and dedicate budgeted resources to continually improve key processes. Implement a performance-based system of measurements linking process to goals based on data. Ensure that quality outcomes, not outputs only, are used as the measure of success.

Works with the Deputy Secretary and other management staff in preparing the Department’s Legislative Budget Request. Ensure that the budget reflects all process and fiscal matters related to the Reemployment Assistance Program.

The incumbent is responsible for the utilization of effective and innovative management techniques to monitor workload and budget data to ensure funds are not overspent and to maintain program integrity. The incumbent must ensure that all Federal and State funds are handled in accordance with all applicable Federal and State laws, rules, and regulations.

Through presentation, personal interviews, participation in civic and professional organizations, and participation in conferences, meetings, seminars, etc., promote the mission and services of the Department and solicit the views of customer and process partners.

Represent the State and serve as a liaison to staff and management of pertinent United States agencies regarding Division’s programs.

Implement and improve policies and processes to ensure that the Department's internal administrative functions are accomplished as prescribed by applicable federal and state laws, policies and administrative rules.

Qualifications:

As a condition of pre-employment eligibility, a Level 2 security background screening is required, which consists of fingerprinting and a check of local, state, and national law enforcement records.

Minimum:

  • Duties and responsibilities of this position must be performed at the official work site of the Department.

    Preferred :

  • Experience in organizational management and achieving program efficiencies.

  • Experience working with external partners, building collaborative partnerships and public speaking.

  • A college degree from an accredited college or university; Professional or non-professional experience as described above can substitute on a year-for-year basis for the preferred college degree.

    Pay:

    $100,000 - $120,000

    This is high-level managerial work in which the incumbent of this position directs several sections within the Reemployment Assistance (RA) program of the Department of Economic Opportunity. This position requires the incumbent to exercise independent judgment in formulating or assisting in the formulation of policies and procedures that have significant impact in all aspects of the Reemployment Assistance program.
