Description

We are in search of a Senior Lead Accountant/Controller to join our client's team in the Education industry, based in Delray Beach, Florida. Your role will be pivotal in managing and analyzing the financial data, ensuring compliance with relevant standards, overseeing budgeting and forecasting, and implementing robust internal controls for the organization. Tremendous growth opportunity to Controller for the region and developing projects domestically.

Responsibilities include:

• Analyzing and reviewing financial statements and reports for our institution on a monthly, quarterly, and annual basis.

• Identifying trends, variances, and areas for improvement in our financial data.

• Monitoring budget performance and providing regular updates to school leaders.

• Assisting in long-term financial planning and forecasting.

• Ensuring compliance with local, regional, and international accounting standards and regulations.

• Coordinating and supporting internal and external audits, including preparing required documentation and responding to audit findings.

• Developing, implementing, and maintaining robust internal financial controls to safeguard our assets.

• Streamlining financial processes to improve efficiency and accuracy.

• Providing training and support to staff on financial procedures and systems.

• Overseeing cash flow management and forecasting to ensure adequate liquidity for school operations.

• Managing relationships with banks and other financial institutions.

• Assisting with the financial aspects of special projects, such as new school openings, capital improvements, and strategic initiatives.

• Leading or participating in cross-functional teams to address financial and operational challenges.

Requirements

• Must hold a Bachelor's degree in Accounting or related field

• Proven experience in a similar role, preferably in the education sector

• Proficient in account reconciliation and balance sheet reconciliation

• Experience with bank reconciliations and general ledger management

• Ability to prepare and post journal entries

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel is mandatory

• Experience with month-end close processes

• Familiarity with JD Edwards, NetSuite, Oracle, and SAP is highly desirable

• Knowledge of project accounting practices

• Experience in budgeting and forecasting

• Ability to prepare internal financial reports

• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities

• Must be detail-oriented and organized

• Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
