Job Purpose:Acomplishes armored assault unit mission by studying and implementing battle orders; planning and directing deployment actions for tanks, light armor, and amphibious assault vehicles; organizing requirements; maintaining morale; improving unit performance.Duties: * Understands armored assault unit mission and requirements by studying commander's estimate of the situation and battle orders; analyzing strategic objectives and targets. * Plans armored assault unit actions by examining current tactical situation and conditions; collecting and analyzing tactical intelligence; selecting tactical objectives and targets; coordinating with infantry, artillery, and air support units. * Organizes armored assault unit requirements by directing the ordering and collection of materials, supplies, equipment, and ordnance; conducting inspections; issuing battle orders. * Directs and controls armored assault unit actions by directing crew members in operation of targeting and firing systems; coordinating operation of communications and navigation systems and equipment; monitoring task accomplishment and results; analyzing changing conditions; developing and evaluating new options; issuing new orders. * Maintains morale by fostering esprit and teamwork; communicating mission and task requirements; assigning, training, coaching, counseling, recognizing, rewarding, and disciplining enlisted personnel; rendering or calling for first aid; enforcing adherence to military policies and methods. * Improves armored assault unit performance by evaluating unit results and individual performance; preparing, requesting, observing, and conducting training; conducting tests and assessments; identifying performance gaps; exploring new strategies and tactics. * Maintains safe operations by following vehicle safety and emergency procedures. * Maintains records by completing reports, equipment logs, and personnel notations. * Maintains equipment by directing and ensuring preventive maintenance, troubleshooting, and operator repairs; calling for repairs and replacements. * Improves job efficiency by participating in training opportunities; reading publications. * Enhances armored assault unit reputation by accepting ownership for accomplishing new and different requests; exploring opportunities to add value to job accomplishments.
