Description

Robert Half, in partnership with a distinguished manufacturing company, is on the lookout for a Contract Cost Accountant who has an eye for detail and a deep understanding of accounting principles. Based in Tacoma, WA, this role will require close collaboration with the finance department to plan, study, and record product costs. The ideal candidate will take charge of cost accounting tasks, delivering accurate and prompt results.

Key Responsibilities:

• Analyzing manufacturing costs and preparing regular reports comparing budget costs to actual costs.

• Implementing cost standards for materials and labor.

• Assisting in budget and forecasting functions.

• Examining and reviewing unusual cost records and ensuring cost data is allocated correctly.

• Working closely with the production department to formulate bills of materials.

• Conducting physical inventories and monitoring the company's inventory system.

• Evaluating operational effectiveness and implementing continual improvement initiatives.

• Assisting with month-end closing and other areas of general accounting as necessary.

• Reviewing and reconciling inventory discrepancies.

• Initiating and leading cost reduction initiatives.

  Requirements

• A Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance.

• A minimum of 2-3 years of experience in Cost Accounting in a manufacturing environment.

• A solid understanding of GAAP.

• Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and experience with accounting software.

• High attention to detail and strong analytical skills.

• Excellent communication skills to relay cost information to management effectively.

• Strong organizational and planning skills.
