SUNY Upstate Medical University RN Quality Improvement Coordinator in Syracuse, New York

Job Summary:

The RN Quality Improvement Coordinator is responsible for Quality Improvement activities at both an institutional as well as departmental level which includes coordinating efforts with key stakeholders such as physicians, nurses, ancillary staff and Information Technology. Demonstrates the ability to analyze data and facilitate the design, development, and implementation of process improvement initiative based on the findings. Assists in the coordination of DNV and Department of Health activities related to performance improvement standards. Supports departmental quality improvement and specific quality improvement projects. Supports institutional quality improvement initiatives as they relate to key clinical outcomes (example: mortality, readmissions, length of stay, patient experience). Ensures action plans from failure mode and effects analysis and root cause analyses are implemented and monitoring of follow up activities occurs and is reported back as required. Supports departmental/ service line dashboards and analysis of practices for process improvements. Provides expertise for clinical performance improvement projects and reviews as related to patient safety, patient outcomes, patient safety indicators and disease management. Assists with RN Patient Safety Coordinator activities if needed.

Minimum Qualifications:

NYS licensed/registered (or eligible) RN required. Bachelors degree in a health related field and 3 years of post-licensure acute care RN experience required OR Associates degree in Nursing and 5 years of post-licensure acute care RN experience required. Must be competent in Microsoft Office products, clinically competent, possess excellent communication skills-both verbal & written, and have excellent customer service skills.

Preferred Qualifications:

Bachelors degree in Nursing or related field preferred.
